Birthday Parties!

Who: Katara, Nami, Roku (and everyone else!)
What: Birthday parties!
When: July 4th (a smidge backdated)
Where: The riverside, south of the village
Summary: After several birthdays had passed, a birthday PARTY is arranged for those who missed theirs. At the river!
Rating: PG?

[With the help of Toph and Roku (and possibly others), the party had been set up south of the village. There were cakes, party tables, and seats out for everyone. It wasn't really a traditional Water Tribe party by any means, because it was meant for more than one person, after all. But it was by the river and swimming opportunities there. Sokka even set up a net and poles for volleyball. Nami and Roku knew to be there, but of course, Sokka has to get here there still...]

((ooc: Open comment spam! Threadjack as you will people. Anyone who are friends with the three birthday peeps are free to come and do as they like.))

Oh, so have you met the rest of their crew? There's Usopp, Brook, Zoro, and Chopper.

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
A couple of them. I didn't realize they all knew each other.
markofthebrave: (Well I Think...)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-06 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I think most of the crew is here... but I don't see Robin. She's with them too. I think that there's only one member of their crew who's not in Luceti.

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I spoke to someone named Robin when I first arrived here. [Most of the crew, huh?] That's something, I guess. Not many from my world are here.
markofthebrave: (Not Sure This Is a Good Idea)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-06 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shoots him a searching look.] I guess that feels like a good thing and a bad thing, huh? I don't know how I'd be doing, if Sokka wasn't here... but at the same time... [this place is the worst town ever.]

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs. This isn't a subject he wants to talk about, for a variety of reasons.]

Eat some cake. [Blatant subject changing? Yeah, he's on it.]
markofthebrave: (Well. That's... yeah.)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-06 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[...did he just order her to eat cake? Pfff. He's not her captain.]

I already did.

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs. Thought you said the cake was good, Katara. Shouldn't it deserve another piece?]

Suit yourself.
markofthebrave: (Wry | Huh | Guess I Could Be Wrong)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-07 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I will. It's my birthday, after all. [She reaches over and picks up a small handful of chips instead.]

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Cake. Chips. What's the difference? It's all food.]

I've been told that birthdays are to be celebrated. [Not that he especially cares. It's just a day, really.]
markofthebrave: (Well | I See)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-07 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
You've... been told? What do you mean? Don't you celebrate your birthday?

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs. He has no particular aversion to birthdays. No particular attachment, either.] Other people celebrate for me, for the most part. It's just another day.
markofthebrave: (Soft Light | Small Smile)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-07 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, it's just another day - but it marks the beginning of a whole new year! And that's something to celebrate.

My people, we only mark certain birthdays as really significant. The coming of age mark is one, and next year I'll be of marrying age - but we celebrate each year, because life is worth celebrating.

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[That makes sense. Life usually is worth celebrating. Usually.]

Birthdays in Soul Society are, for the most part, either chosen to commemorate a remarkable date or is simply the day that soul arrived there. Very few are actually born in Soul Society.

People are born there? But I thought it was a place for souls to go.

nebulous canon and conjecture time! XD

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
It is. [He pauses for a moment.] There will be souls that are inevitably lost. I told you that we don't judge souls; we cleanse them of wrongs committed after death. Those souls that were corrupted in life will be sent to hell. Those souls aren't reborn; those born into Soul Society take their place, to maintain the balance.

markofthebrave: (Hmmm | This Calls for Concern)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-09 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
So then - do those souls that are born there... go to the real world?

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Eventually. They live out their lives in Soul Society, then are reborn into the Living Realm.
markofthebrave: (<_<)

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2010-07-09 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
...So they live in Soul Society, die, get born as humans, and then go back to Soul Society again?

[identity profile] likeafirework.livejournal.com 2010-07-09 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's it. [Hey. Good cake. Taking another bite.]
markofthebrave: (Well I Think...)

[She ponders this silently. It's... not exactly comfortable, but well - people do have to come from somewhere...]
