Who: All Draftees
What: Killing Third Party members and taking names
When: 7/26 - 7/31
Where: Sirry Crags
Summary: Mass-interaction for those out on the battlefield. Feel free to make team threads along with individual ones or however you wish. Action tags are fine here along with prose. For those plotting mischief, this is the place to do it.
Rating: R for the likely violence since killing will most definitely happen, but this is more for interactions during the battles.

[And early on the 26th everyone gets sent out. Thanks to Caesar's organization, most everyone has been placed in groups, even if some people plan on leaving their groups at some point. Check out this post for the details. If you haven't posted to this post and want your character on a team, please do so.]

Special note: Ignore the comments that said there would be 400, that has been retconned and we were told 1200 Third Party members from the start. Enjoy killing them off and taking names.

Special note 2: I asked Akai if any of the Third Party will be coming and dealing with their incapacitated allies, and they will. So assume that unless something is done to prevent this, those injured Third Party members may come back later healed and ready to attack again (though possibly not as effectively).

But why keep them? So they can be rescued by their comrades and come back to take down our people?

[Shadow isn't attacking- yet- but looks ready to spring in an instant. As far as he cares, in a war like this there's no time to go around messing with ethics. The enemy has to be taken down, it's as simple as that.]

Did you forget that murder will result in the same? Alive, they can be permanently detained.

[His eyes narrow, though he straightens back up to his full height.]

War has rules of engagement for a reason. Above all else, we are not the monsters they can be.

[It's especially times like this where Shadow's slightly more... gray-area morals start coming out full force. He's got no patience for following the rules or showing mercy against their Third Party enemies.]

Unless they've got information for us, there's no point in capturing them. It's kill or be killed out here. They'd never change that toward us.

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Even though they will show us no quarter, I will not allow war crimes to be committed under my watch.

Step away from them. Now.

And risk them coming back to take us out?

[Instead, Shadow shakes his head and drops to a defensive stance. He's had to do a lot of desperate things, sometimes worse than this back when he was working alone. But part of him wonders if the Returners would've wanted it to come to this. But he's pretty sure they'd have fought. They'd have given the enemies no second chances.]

[Batman meets that by changing his position to an unarmed combat stance.]

Think, Shadow. If it was as simple as killing them, then why haven't the Malnosso won this war with their clear technological advantage? Lethal force isn't going to end this.

Then why are we here? [His voice is cold and direct, and he's still got a one-track mind about what they've got to accomplish.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Originally, to rescue survivors. Otherwise... I think we're here to buy time and keep their forces tied up. Which can be accomplished without killing. They'll waste more time and resources attempting to rescue comrades than they would if they knew they were dead.

[identity profile] shrouded-reaper.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[He won't deny their original intent, but now once they haven't found any survivors... it seems all they can do is fight.]

And what'll you do when it backfires? When the enemies come back stronger, their numbers refreshed?

[And by now he gets tired of the argument that's going nowhere. So he takes a quick opportunity when it presents itself, unleashing a shuriken toward the prisoners, springing to the defensive after that.]

[identity profile] cowledcrusader.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Fight on.

[There's no way he can stop that shuriken. Shadow's too close, he's too far away, and the travel time on a batarang wouldn't be able to intercept it.

But that tears it. Batman quickly closes the distance between them, throwing a standard batarang Shadow's way as a distraction in the meantime.]

[And though he's prepared for a counterattack, moving to evade, the batarang tears a gash in an arm. Shadow aims his next shuriken at Batman.]

We're better off getting rid of them quickly. They wouldn't show us mercy.
