Day 3!

[Giles starts violently and whirls around, half raising his sword before...]

O-Oh. Grune. Um, hello.

[Slowly, and sheepishly, he lowers the weapon.]

[lostinmyway]

[Grune doesn't so much as blink at nearly getting skewered by one of her best friends.]

Do you need any gels?

[Does she have any Lemon Gels left for him this time? Hmm....]

[consultmybooks]

[You're so worryingly unflappable, Grune.]

Do I need any...oh. [He shakes his head.] N-No, I'm, I'm all right.

...do you need an umbrella, Grune?

[lostinmyway]

All right.

[And then she pauses for a moment. She gives him a puzzled look, then looks up at the sky. Only when she looks back at him does she say:] Oh, no, I'm just fine. You should save the umbrella for yourself.

Helios has actually developed quite a handy little spell to keep water out of our eyes. If I need something, I'll use that.

[Not that he's using it now, of course.]

Oh, my, he must be very smart.

[Pride by association - it's a feeling he knows well. Then, frowning in apparent concern, Giles adds:] Why don't you go and see if he needs a gel a little later, Grune?

That's a very good idea. I promised Robert I would help protect him, so I should make sure to give him all kinds of gels.

[consultmybooks]

Did you? Well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Robert has, um, been very worried about Helios, lately. With very good reason, what with him being sent out here again.

...a lot of us are. [A few, at least. Himself, Frederic, and Robert. But it's enough worry for a lot of people.]

It's good he has so many friends to look out for him. That must make him very happy.

[consultmybooks]

I hope it does. [With Helios' crippling self esteem issues, sometimes it's hard to tell. They just...try to be there for him.

Giles gestures up at the tree he'd been using to take some shelter for the storm before looking back at Grune.] Can you stay a little longer? At least to get out of the rain for a few minutes. And have some tea, if you like - I have a bit left.

Oh, I'd love to stay. Thank you!

[She walks into the shelter of the tree a little more, then smiles at him.] What kind of tea did you bring?

[Giles pulls a battered thermos out of an inside pocket of his coat and passes it over.]

Peppermint. It stays warm for quite a while.]

It tastes very nice, too.

[...There aren't a lot of thermoses on the Legacy.]

[He takes her hand and tugs her a little further under the canopy. Then, after unscrewing the thermos - ta da! - he passes it over.]

Here you are.

Oh, thank you. [What an interesting bottle.

She takes a sip. The tea isn't very warm by now, but that's all right. She's sharing it with Giles, and that's the important part.

She hands it back to him so he can take a drink, too.]

I wonder if we'll have time to go exploring later.

[He takes a drink. Passes it back. All they need is a campfire to dry off and they've got themselves a party.]

I've been doing quite a bit of exploring already, actually.

[...as a scout, yes, but the point remains.]

[She takes another sip and passes it back.]

Did you find anything?

Nothing very special, I'm afraid. Well, nothing I could really understand without being able to take it back home and examine it more closely.

...something I'm not sure I'd be allowed to do.

Why wouldn't you be allowed to?

I don't think the Malnosso want us knowing very much about this place.

Hmm. I wonder why.

Perhaps they think we wouldn't enjoy the village as much if we knew what we were missing.

Oh, but Luceti is such a nice village. I'm sure that wouldn't happen.

I still think people would like the chance to see more and live other places, if they had the choice.
