lucetilogs | Draft Log #3: During v. 2.0

[Eventhough she had won, that was almost painful to watch. Her abilities were impressive, if not sloppy. All that could be heard was the clicking sounds from the Murder and Nami's heavy breathing now. Whatever past disagreement they had, this was not the time for it to cloud his judgment.]

Scout the area. [His machine soon disappeared from his side, leaving him alone to deal with Nami.] Are you all right? [He's approaching her from her left.]

[Sloppy or otherwise, there's nothing slow about the way Nami spins to face him, staff section flipped to face him with her eyes wildly furious. Apparently she just hates you, Alexei.

...that, or she's having other issues. She registers he's not an enemy too late to stop the attack but manages to wrench her aim just slightly off. A concentrated line of pure wind punching into the trees next to him-- though if he's too close that might also slice into his arm. We recommend trying to dodge?]

[Hooray! She can join the line of people that hate him.

He avoids it quickly enough. He doesn't have his armor weighing him down and it just tears a bit of the fabric on the sleeve as he moved. ]

...I'll take that as a maybe. [His hand was resting on the hilt of his sword. Just in cast.]

[Nami makes a strangled sound and manages to avoid the temptation to sit down suddenly, putting a hand out for balance on the tree.]

Don't sneak up on people! [Her voice sounds thick and distant even to her, and she scowls. Yes. This is all totally your fault, Alexei.] I could have killed you!

...I wasn't trying to sneak up on anyone. [He didn't come up behind you or anything. Calmly.]

You don't sound well, you should return to the ship. You shouldn't even be out here by yourself.

I'm fine. [She's turning to stalk away.] And I don't need your help, so just... go threaten someone else or laugh or whatever it is you wanna do. I don't care.

[This would be a more impressive exit (...okay, attempt to exit] if she could walk in a straight line. Actually, the colours round here are doing a fine job of blending together. Alexei's kind of impersonating a red and silver blob right now.]

... [Now he's approaching her, just to make sure she doesn't fall or end up hurting herself.]

No you're not. You barely managed to survive that battle. You should leave this place now.

Barely survived is still surviving. [Her voice is clipped.] It's what I do. It's not like it matters. What'll happen? I get to sleep for a week? I can just take a nap. A nap. [A short bark of laughter.] Oh, Grune. A--

[OH RIGHT, SHE WAS BEING MAD AT YOU. Point. ....shaky point.] You should go find someone that actually wants your help. You're powerful, right? Get out there and kill them all.

[...Wow she's as good as gone. He reaches for her arm]

I think a nap would help-

[Suddenly, from out of the bushes came a shift hunter and it lunges right for them both. Being the one closer to it, he releases Nami and braces for the impact from the beast and goes down with it.

In comes this incredible pain the moment it bit down on his arm. The same arm that he thought had avoided Nami's attack. It was clear to him now that it was definitely injured and the hunter might have picked up on the scent of an injured person. Dammit, where the hell did his Murder go!?]

[Nami staggers back away, blinking and trying to focus on the new arrival. That it's an enemy is a given; her reaction times are slowing, she notes, and Nami can't intervene in time to stop it biting Alexei. But she can slam the business end of her staff into it and try prying it off him. She's stronger than she used to be.] Get off!

[Because frying it while it's got its teeth sunk into him would be problematic at best.]

[He winces when the hound's teeth leaves the flesh of his arm, but now it was lunging for Nami. He quickly grabs it by the leg with his uninjured arm and pulls. He then moves to get up and then uses that momentum to toss the beast as far away from them as he could. It'll land a few feet away, dazed but still alive.

It was then that his Murder machine returns and starts firing at the shift hunter, causing a distraction.]

[It lunges and Nami falls back to avoid it-- literally, it seems, not quite catching herself before she hits the ground. The world isn't meant to be upending like that.

She gets her bearings (sort of) as she hears the sound of gunfire, and Nami flinches, blinking up at the arrival of the Murder. Standing now. Between the machine and Alexei's magic, she figures the Shift Hunter is toast, so she'll just... be ready to back him up and otherwise concentrate on not dying, okay?]

[That hunter did a number on his left arm, thankfully not the sword arm at least. He probably shouldn't move while he's losing all this blood though, so he'll just have to cast something quick while the Murder still has the Shift Hunter in one spot.

A few fireballs and a laser shot from his Murder ought to do it. After that...he's just going to take a moment to step back and lean against a tree. Now the added fatigue over the past few days was finally getting to him and this injury really didn't help matters.]

Damn machine. [The Murder simply stayed where it stood, deciding to scout the area while keeping its creator present.]

...

You're bleeding. [Nami has decided to promote herself to Captain Obvious today.] You should go back and get it looked at.

[She holsters her staff pieces, though it takes a couple tries to do. Looks like she's intent on continuing on.]

[He grabs her arm with his non injured one.]

You're returning as well. [Like hell you're going to keep going.]

I'm not the one injured here. [The words are curt, though her voice is growing faint. She tries to yank her arm back.] I haven't taken a single injury all week. Not really fair, is it?

[What kind of yank was that? Why was she so determined to go after them the way she is right now? She can't be this reckless]

You can't even get yourself free from my grip. Why are you so determined to get yourself injured?

I'm not determined to do any such thing! [She seems pretty pissed at that idea, actually.] I'm just-- you wouldn't understand! [Because you're Alexei the goddamned jerk, is what you are. Give her arm back, you're making her dizzy.]

[...] Whatever happened, you're in no condition to do anything about it right now. You're getting sick, you won't be helping anyone.

[Oho, that gets a flinch. And this face.]

[Annnnd rallying.] ...so what. [Getting sick. She's been sick since she got here. Nami feels like laughing. She doesn't. But the strength is gone from her voice, leaving a shaky post-adrenalin exhaustion that grows with every word.] What I do isn't any of your concern. We barely know each other, remember?

That doesn't matter out here. You are an ally, therefore your safety is my concern.

You should be concerned about your own--

[--safety. ...he's bleeding pretty badly.]

...you need a doctor. [Frowning. Actually, they're pretty far away from base.]
