It's pretty calm right now, isn't it? [He glances around, noting the lack of attackers.] I'd like to dry the automail off, if I've got the time for it.

Yeah, things are a little quieter right now. Pretty sure there's at least a few more soldiers that retreated back into the forest. [Which was a good distance away from the beach.

Leon was in the process of trying to get some food down during this mission, so now that he knows the seaweed monster is just Ed, he goes back to opening up his pack.]

[Edward glances off in that direction, mulling it over, then turns back to the open ocean.]

And more will probably be coming... dammit. Is it always like this...?

We used to get approximate numbers of enemies in the area, but I guess it's hard to tell when we're traveling such a long distance. [Was this entire place enclosed like the other battlegrounds? Or were they finally seeing a world without Shifting barriers?]

Probably hard to estimate. They're sending a lot of ships at us, and it's not like we know how many soldiers are on a ship until they actually get off it.

I guess so. But ships have upper capacities; even high estimates would have been nice. [He pulls out a granola bar and starts eating. Hurray dry rations.] Balloon airships are a new one for me, though.

I've never seen anything like them, either. We don't have vehicles that can fly in Amestris.

Something we have in common, then. Our transportation technology's nowhere near that advanced on my home planet -- just wagons and boats.

We've got cars in the city, but that's about it.

Cars? ...Man, my planet's so backwater. [How long would it take for them to discover cars? And trains?]

You don't have them, but you know what they are?

[...Oh. That's right. Probably should have explained that.]

My home planet's pretty underdeveloped, but I was living on another planet before I came to Luceti. So yeah, I know about cars and trains. And spacecrafts. [Among other things.]

Hey, that's right- aren't you the one who made those teleporters?

Yeah, that's right. [He keeps eating.] Someone told you? [He's pretty sure it was claimed as a Brigade accomplishment back when it was done, much to Sokka's chagrin.]

It's in the guide. [Which he's read. Twelve times.]

Wow, really? [It's been a long while since he's read up on Professor Sage's guide, since he's been around so long. He snorts, shaking his head.] Wonder why.

[Edward shrugs.] You'd have to ask the one who wrote it. Probably just wanted to give you the credit?

Well, it doesn't really matter, I guess. I'm just surprised, since those things are usually rolled up into Brigade accomplishments.

[....uuugh, talk about a mood killer. He doesn't want to hear about the Brigade.]

What, you're part of that thing?

Yeah, I am. [And he can't help but note that tone.] Lemme guess -- had a run-in with Haruhi?

....We don't really get along.

[And it has nothing at all to do with her girlfriend, no sir.]

Thought so. She's got ... a strong personality. [To say the least.]

Yeah, sure. [He snorts. He wonders if... Nah. No way.

...Though it would explain why Haruhi had made that strong of an impression.]

[Oh thank god. He'll just be blissfully unaware of Leon's internal ponderings, phew.]

I'm gonna head back to the ship- I think my spear's still on deck somewhere, if it didn't fall off.
