Player Event - Chaos Plot

Who: Helios and pretty much everyone who replied to this post
What: The demon god Apep which affixed itself to Helios’ soul has awoken.
When: August 6th-9th
Where: Starting around house 44 then mainly around town and the woods
Summary: Basically Helios gets possessed and causes all sorts of chaos and destruction that the evil god, Apep, is known for causing!
Rating: R for lots of violence

[ It’s strange how the twist of events of a simple evening walk could change much of everything. In an instant, that was Luceti’s way of things, changing things in an instant. And Helios never even saw it coming. There were still parts of that night and parts of his soul that he never truly understood. But there were always ways of finding out. They say hands on experience is one of the best ways of learning. And this is a lesson he and several others won't soon forget. ]

Yeah, it looks like we won't need to be waiting for their ultimatum at this rate. It's all ready happening. [There was a touch of paranoia to his tone, as if he had been expecting the worst since July.]

I have no idea what the damage is otherwise. He may have gotten others, or he may not have. We'll have to see. [He was just glad to drop the concerns that he had been carrying for the better part of the week. He could focus on himself. Everything else was no longer his problem.]

It was a melee, if you're curious. Being deafened is a strange thing, and its very dangerous in my profession. I broke away from our little group to do some visual recon of the perimeter, because waiting for the enemy to blindside you is stupid. Of course, breaking away was stupid too--that thing possessing Helios jumped me.

At least I kept Luke's tech safe and tripped him up. It wasn't much, but it was something.

No kidding. [Law is a properly paranoid man himself. Perhaps it is. Perhaps it isn't.] They're finding ways to rattle the cages.

I guess we will.

Lupin. You did what?

... at least you admit it was stupid. Sighing.]

I was. And I'm glad you tripped him. But, you're right. That was stupid. You shouldn't have been the one to do the recon. You were not in form for it, and I'm not just talking about your penalty. [Little sleep, off the meds - that was not a shining example of risk assessment there.] But you realize that.

... let's get going to the clinic. The sooner I attend to that arm, the better.

Thanks for sparing me the lecture then. [Because he had a feeling that he was never going to hear the end of it from the rest of his friends.

He joined Law on unsteady legs, and forced himself to concentrate on the simple act of just putting one foot in front of the other. He had barely slept over the last two weeks because of the Shift and the mess that ensued, but he figured that Law figured that out all ready. The man had his ways of knowing what was happening around the village, and Lupin respected that.]

...There weren't many other options. It was either that or we send Shepard and leave ourselves unprotected; send Adele, who would probably have died because she is not experienced in that kind of thing; or send Artoo, who only communicates in beeps and is a risk to put in danger because we have no means of repairing him. The three of us can't even understand him in normal conditions, and silence makes it a lot harder.

we probably should have stayed together...but then we all would probably be a mess. Everything we could have done carried a huge risk.

[Law made sure to walk close, in case Lupin required something to grab if he suddenly had a spell of vertigo.]

I do realize that, and no, there's wasn't a perfect solution... or even a good one. That's why I'm not reading you the riot act. It would have probably been slightly better if you had stayed together in my opinion, but what's done is done.

Can you handle me teleporting you?

[Teleporting. He wasn't certain, but he was less certain about walking any distance. While he could put on a show, he wasn't going to be able to maintain it for long.

It was by far the better option.

Lupin sighed heavily and grabbed hold of Law's arm, grateful to have the man there as an anchor. It would have been useful to have someone like that jump around with him during the last Shift, but the Malnosso were rarely that considerate.]

So long as we don't end up in someone's refrigerator, it should be fine. Just...wait a moment]

[Coming to a halt.]

Tell me when you're ready.

[He takes a deep breath to steel himself for the jump, quietly glad that he was at least able to do that much.]

Okay. I'm set.

[And the Room extends. Fingers flick.

And suddenly they are in the Battle Dome Clinic, House 53 left far behind.]

[Bracing himself didn't stop the odd sensation of movement and the ever familiar feeling of being thrown off balance. He clung to Law and closed his eyes against the crashing vertigo.]

Well It's better than being under someone's bed.

Speaking of beds, let's get you to one and off your feet.

[Like that one right there.]

Right. Right.

[No arguments, which was itself something of note. The fatigue caught up to him when they reached the dome, and Lupin gratefully flopped onto the bed. It was jarring, but he didn't need to think anymore.]

That's better.

[Law goes to wash his hands and put on gloves.]

So, who popped you arm back in your socket?

[He fingered his injured arm gingerly as he watched Law get settled, swallowing the subtle hike in anxiety. He trusted Law, but medical facilities had a tendency to put him on edge. It was going to be a hard habit to break, even though doing so was necessary at this point in time.]

Saori did. The woman we called to help us on Tuesday.

[And he returns to examine the arm in closer detail.

... this is not bad work, he finds.]

She did a good job. I'm going to have to do some x-rays to make sure that it's in the correct position and you have no fractures I need to treat before placing it in a sling.

[He figured that she did--her perceptions are heightened enough that she can tell when a person's ki is out of alignment, and how to correct for it. Lupin nods in understanding at the comment.]

Figured as much. It's why I called you.

...we're gonna need to get everything off, aren't we? [The shirt he didn't care about, as he was going to redesign it regardless, but the holster provided a different set of problems.]

Yes we are. But I can get what you're wearing off of you without moving your arm.

[He eyes Law at this, both curious and a little suspicious. He had an idea, but the events that went down in 46 had him a little leery.

It might have just been stress and fatigue.]

Wacky. It's the same kind of thing you've done before, right?

Pretty much. Yes.

[Admittedly, he was deeply curious about Law's power set, even if he didn't understand it.]

...Very well. Fixing leather is a bitch anyway.

[A small Room extends. Law makes a sweeping motion, and a sense of energy sweeps through the circle. There might be a slight tingle.

And just like that the shirt and holster vanish off of Lupin, only to reappear on a nearby table, before the Room fades. Simple and painless.]

There we go.

[He shuddered at the sudden exposure, and at the sheer efficiency that Law worked with.]

That...was quick.

[A part of him wasn't sure that he would ever really get used to such displays from anyone.]

Aa... it's not a complex technique, so... [... yeah. It was. Neckscratch.]

I'm going to wheel the x-ray over here. You don't need to get up.

Not a complex--

[He had his suspicions...and decided that he didn't want to know. Not at that point.]

Right. Sure. That...that sounds really good.

I bet. Get some rest.

[And he is going to get one of the two portable x-ray units.]

Thanks.

[He would lay down, but he's not sure if that is quite a good idea. He had been sleeping on his side, but Law would want a better look at his injuries with the x-rays.]
