The scowl is returned with a sweet smile as she tosses the pillow behind her shoulder and on to the floor. Though there are still others on the bed, it is at least one less hiding place for Artemis' head right now. And all the better. It can be a little difficult to chat with a pillow.

Artemis will thank her later.

"I'm playing hooky today," she gloats a second or two later, feeling a sort of adrenaline in announcing her intentions aloud. Though lying on her back as well, she turns her head to regard her sister. "I want you to join me. Dad has no idea."

"Oh, I'm sure he'll be thrilled," Artemis drawls, rolling her head to the side to grin back at her. "And next thing you know I'll be getting lectured on what a bad influence I am. How does that even work?"

Still, she gives a laugh and waves her hand vaguely in the air. "So what is it I'm joining you in? Since I play hooky every day."

She chuckles, beaming at her sister. As beautiful as the day was outside, there was also something to be said about spending a lazy morning in bed with her twin. That wasn't something their lives allowed much for any more. Hadn't for some time now.

"Maybe he should have paid more attention to us growing up," she answers with another laugh. "We both know I'm the bad influence."

Though she had to admit that her little sister was as every bit as stubborn and reckless as she could be. It made for a lot of fun when they were little. And still made for fun even as they grew up.

"I was thinking sun bathing by the lake? Or we could go hunting."

"He paid plenty of attention. Somehow we always got caught the times I was the instigator. Maybe I should have taken that as a sign." She makes a face, sticking her tongue out at Katniss.

"Ugh, not hunting. I am so done with trees right now." Artemis groaned, dragging another pillow over her face again at the very idea. Not that Katniss knew what she'd been up to in the woods last night and she really had no intention of telling her. That would just open up far too many questions and unwanted explanations.

"I could deal with the lake though. Sunbathing almost counts as sleeping." She peeked out at her twin again. "Is it warm enough?"

Katniss laughs at the face she makes and easily returns the gesture, sticking her tongue out at Artemis in return. Mornings like this really have become too rare and far between. She'd give anything to change that. But it's one problem that Katniss isn't exactly certain how to fix.

At that thought, she collapses back against the pillow again. Only to sit up a little and smile when she hears an agreement. "Definitely. I wouldn't suggest it if it wasn't. Promise, Artie."

Katniss gets a pillow tossed at her for the old nickname as Artemis groans and rolls out of bed. "Fine. But I'm showering first. I feel gross."

And she was pretty sure she still had tree sap in her hair.

She catches the pillow easily, laughing all the while. While Artemis climbs out of the bed, she shoves the pillow behind her back. It provides a good cushion to the hard headboard. Better than wasting it by throwing it back at Artemis.

"Oh, come on. You don't need a shower." Her eyebrows raise as she talks, words sincere. "All you have to do is jump into the lake. Much easier."

"The lake is cold," Artemis calls back, as if that were an answer enough in itself. "You're a heathen."

She rolls her eyes at the comment and, this time, does remove the pillow to toss Artemis' way. Her aim is good. Just like that of her sister's.

"I am not."

Artemis catches it with a laugh, because she'd been expecting it, knows her sister all too well. But she's got the ammo now, so she flees into the bathroom before her sister can think to toss something else at her.

"I'll be quick! Are we getting something for breakfast too? I'm starved."

Even though Artemis couldn't see it, Katniss sticks her tongue out behind her sister's retreating back. Really, a quick dip in the lake would have been enough. And probably would have been welcomed after lying out in the sun too long.

Relaxing back on her sister's bed, she shouts, "We could stop by the bakery!"
