He couldn't answer, mostly because of the beard of bees. At least they WEREN'T all going for Ami. But in response to her question, Jack began to empty his pockets. There was nothing remotely sweet in there -- just some odds and ends, like string, fancy baubles, and a bit of lace. Nothing bee-attracting. No, they just seem to like him for some reason.

But if Jack was hurt, she didn't want that, either! And if she couldn't figure out why they were clustering by him instead, she couldn't do anything about it. (Don't open your mouth, Jack.)

"I don't understand..."

Me neither! But Jack couldn't speak. He did try to mouth one word: Malnosso. They were always the handiest to blame.

When on earth were they going to get this ride fixed?! Now all he wanted was to get down and possibly plunge his face in a river.

They were handy to blame, and Ami blamed them for a lot herself. She tried to think quickly, but anything they could do would probably only anger the bees - they weren't quite being aggressive yet - and she and Jack had no way to escape while the ride was stopped.

"Usually, they don't sting unless they're provoked..." she offers a bit nervously. "It hurts them, too, so they don't want to do it."
