What: Basically a slumber party
When: November 1st afternoon and evening
Where: One of the villas in Luceti's housing area
Summary: Luceti's residents of Abel Township have landed themselves under house arrest. But even if they can't go to the parties, who's to say they can't bring the party to them? (Or at least some takeout, geez, this punishment thing is hungry work.)
Rating: PG? It's just some post-zombie-apocalypse dudes and their houseguests, it's not really gonna be racy.

Maybe Halloween Land hadn't been the best destination for a small cluster of survivors of the zombie apocalypse.

In their defense, they hadn't known when they'd walked in that literal zoms would be all over the place. Even as placid as the things were, all it took were a few too many of the shambling dead in one place, strained nerves and the wrong line of conversation, and one poorly-timed jumpscare to set off the powder keg of their collective neuroses and send them sprinting for the nearest defensible position between them and the exits. And sure, all weapons had been taken to the battle dome. But where they came from, all that defined a weapon was a favourable combination of weight, length, sharpness, and maximum velocity. Where they came from, they'd all learned a few behaviours on an instinctual level.

It was sort of lucky, actually, that they only had managed to get themselves landed under house arrest for the remainder of the day. It meant that they still had contact with the outside world - or at least the portions of it that wandered close enough to the open windows.

[The closer dinnertime draws, the more doggedly Jack is hanging around one of the windows, chatting up anyone who walks by in the hopes of either seeing a friendly face of charming an unfamiliar one into embarking on a mission of mercy. His success is mixed at best, the initial forays getting a beer or two from the reasonably nearby poolside bar but not much else. Man, recruiting new runners isn't as easy as the Abel leadership makes it look.]

[Billy's isn't exactly the friendliest face today - more manic-depressive, hyper-vigilant, and guilt-ridden - but he is, for the most part, unoccupied. By some miracle of fortune he's venturing out of the hotel on a food run alone, for once, since Teddy's decided to become one with the local spa for a while. It'd been tempting to join him, of course, but Teddy probably needed a bit of space to clear his head, and Billy's done his share of wallowing in his own misery. He doesn't need to do more of it, and he needs to stop being so afraid of walking out the door.

Thus, out he goes. Thankfully he'd had his phone in his pocket when they were taken, so he pauses outside the entrance to fiddle with his headphones and get some music going. Good time to catch him before he heads off, eh?]

[It's been awhile since Jack's had a chance to talk to Billy much, and he takes a second to be sure it's him he sees wandering down the lane, leashed to his phone. But once he's certain he breaks into a bright grin, leaning his head and shoulders as near to out the window as they really get and cupping his hands around his mouth.]

Hey, Billy!

[Billy jumps at the shout, glancing left, right, back, then finally up, eyes widening as he spots Jack in the window.]

Oh, uh. Hey?

[To a certain extent Jack is just cheerfully immune to the weirdness of the entire approach, leaning in on the windowsill as he settles down to chat.]

Bit early in the day to be back at the resort, isn't it?

[Technically he hasn't actually left yet, but he doesn't feel like correcting Jack.]

Shouldn't I be saying that to you, considering you're already in it?

Yeeeeeah.

[That is the crux of it. Oops.]

The Abel Township representatives all managed to get outselves under house arrest for the remainder of the day, though. Don't suppose I could twist your arm into bringing us dinner?

Well. He was heading into the park for food anyway. And it's tempting to just back off and go back to his hotel room to hide out again, but... people keep telling him he needs to go out. So he'll go out.

A bit, anyway.]

Are you gonna tell me what you did to end up in house arrest, or do I not want to know?

[Jack's grin turns a bit sheepish, gaze flickering off to the side as he scratches his temple.]

We, ah. We didn't realise there would be zoms in one of the parks. And we may have collectively flipped, a bit.

[Oh geez. No wonder they were stuck inside.]

If I get you dinner, wouldn't that mean I'm aiding known criminals? That's not very heroic.

[...Then again, his hero-ing days are done, anyway...]

What? No! It is totally heroic.

[Immediately, Jack's sitting up straighter, even after being house-arrested completely unwavering in his belief that they were, if not in the right, at least in the completely understandable. No good came from zoms, even tame ones. Especially tame ones, probably.]

Come on, it's completely mental to criminalise violence against zombies. If anything you'd be sort of like . . . like an honorary Runner!

I'm more into yoga, to be honest...

[At this point he's just making up excuses, though, and... okay, he does want to be helpful. He may not have affected the zombie-guys with his spell, but guilt is a powerful persuasive tool. Sigh. Looks like he's been roped into a job after all.]

...Fine, what do you guys want to eat?

[Oh god, it worked! Jack throws his hands up with a hoot of victory, beaming.]

Billy to the rescue! Ah, man, let me see . . . I thiiiiiink Sam was all excited about this pretty legit-looking Chinese place on the way out of the villas. Something about steamed buns?

[He thinks about going for a map, until an even better idea occurs to him. It should have been his first thought, really, given that it's the way they get almost everything into Abel.]

"Oh dear, Jack. Whatever did you do?"

Whatever it is, he expected to be highly entertained.

"Nothing awful enough to warrant house arrest."

Jack is very firm on this front, practically pouting as he rests his chin on his palm.

"What did they expect, manning a park with zoms?"

"House arrest? You have been naughty." Loki grinned. "...zoms?"

"Zoms. Zombies! The shambling dead," Jack explains, getting entirely caught up in his animated elaboration of the reviled things before he remembers that Loki doesn't really reliably recognize anything from the past few centuries. "Reanimated corpses that eat the flesh of the living. The things that the Halloween park is just crawling with."

"Oh, those. Right." He knew about those. "We already cured that little problem, didn't we? So they must be fake, here. Jack, did you go about attacking innocent people in fancy dress?"

Oh, this was beautiful and he loved it.

"No!" That's a hideous thought, going around clubbing people with bits of latex glued to their faces, and Jack's visibly appalled by the very suggestion. "Come on, I know a zom when I see one. Or smell one. Or . . . yeah, just trust me, there are a host of sensory cues that one is not just dealing with a person in a costume."

"Then why the incarceration, if you were but merely defending yourselves?"

"Well. Pre-emptively defending ourselves," Jack admits, in the way that makes clear that he would really rather not. It's still an entirely fair course of action, he feels.

"I think someone once pointed out to me that the proper word for that is 'attacking.'" Loki grinned. "So you attacked the attractions at an amusement park. Bad form, that. How long are you to be in this cruel incarceration?"

"Rest of the day, I think. However they're defining that." Jack slouched, letting his mouth fall against his forearms as he looked flatly at Loki. Stupid rules-lawyering deities. "I still think it's ridiculous."

"Jack, you are so adorable when you pout. How could they possess hearts so hard as to resist?"

It's mockery, of course, and Jack gives a few more seconds of bathed-cat glowering. But it doesn't stand much of a chance against Loki's smug satisfaction, and he cracks a little smirk finally, resting his cheek in the crook of his arm.

"Aw, Loki. You're going to make me blush." He pauses, just for a second. "Though a drink from the pool bar would do that too . . ."
