Christmas tiiiime

Who: Bioshock Family House! (and friends)
What: ITS CHRISTMAS! And they're going to be civil to each other dagnabbit
When: Christmas?
Where: The Bioshocker House!
Summary: Everyone is happy! Food! Presents! Puppies? Proposals! WAIT WAHT?!
Rating: P for words starting with P.

Tree? Check. It's pathetic and almost half the pine-needles are missing from getting dragged into the house.

Ornaments? Check.

Christmas dinner? Well...there's food, at least! Robert and Booker might have raided the supermarket for all the microwaveable and appropriate foods to have for Christmas. There's microwaved chicken, microwaved mashed potatoes, microwaved green beans that are really soggy and smell funny, microwaved rolls, and microwaved ham. Because there should be variety, damnit. There's also a pie sitting in the microwave, waiting. And vanilla ice cream.

Booker wouldn't call it a feast or anything but it's not like there's absolutely nothing to be seen.

They haven't gone all out or anything for the first Christmas they're spending together, nobody here really has the Christmas spirit to do it. Either the Luteces don't remember how to do Christmas or they just don't care - the latter is more likely and Booker hasn't done Christmas in decades so it feels off to even find a tree. Booker doesn't know if Elizabeth ever got to celebrate the holiday in her tower but as far as he's concerned this should be good enough.

Elizabeth almost laughed and almost chastised Gai for his blasphemous commentary, but those words, 'savior figure', just crept up her back in the worst way. Technically, they already had celebrated the birth of a 'savior figure' with much copulation--on her birthday--so what was one more day doing the same?

She swayed a little under Gai's hands running over her corset, sighing happily. "They're a test all young men should undergo. Before they sleep with someone they shouldn't. Obviously, if you're too drunk or inexperienced to work a corset, you aren't in any condition to be having sex."

Gai's own role as a savior figure had been a product of accident and deliberate cultivation, neither of which were things he considered to be worth celebrating. But engaging in this particular form of celebration with someone other than the Eve Keido had been trying to mold him into a mate for? That was an idea he rather liked as a silent "fuck you" to his adoptive father. All of this was blasphemous in the very best way.

His hands trailed lightly over the fabric and boning as they made their way to the back of the corset in search of those infernal laces. "I had enough trouble with it the first time without any alcohol involved at all," he joked.

"And we weren't in the dark," Elizabeth laughed quietly, shifting as to direct Gai's hands to the knot at the small of her back. "Clearly, in 1912, you have to really love someone to endure the ordeal of getting her undressed."

Joking about lighter things brought her away from Columbia, and that was good. She had a new life, a completely new life, with Gai at the forefront of her future. That was what she was going to focus on--not what she was taught to be.

"I can do it, Gai," she said, reaching back for the knot. "It's dark and we've both had a drink."

"Then I think I've already passed that test with flying colors." The joking tone to his voice was gone, replaced by that warm, loving timbre once more. There wasn't any need for more tests like that, not now that they'd committed themselves to each other. Oh, there would be trials, to be sure, but they would be things they'd face together. Just that thought was enough to make them seem like nothing at all.

He gave a few half-hearted tugs on the knot before allowing Elizabeth to have a go at it instead-- probably a better choice unless he really wanted to be teased about his lack of skill in corsets again.

"Yes you have..." Elizabeth's fingers pulled at the ends of the knot and undid it. As her fingers pulled at the slack, loosening the corset, she stretched up on her toes so she could put soft kisses on Gai's jaw. "There was never even a shadow of a doubt in my mind."

She's silent for a few moments as she pulls at the laces, then finally there's a soft pop and a thump as it falls into the heap her dress created.
