Who: Gai, Elizabeth, and all invited (and possibly some uninvited) guests
What: A wedding!
When: Just before sunset on June 30th
Where: The beach
Summary: Finally, after much planning, pre-wedding jitters, and ice cream consumed, this is it. The big day. Gai and Elizabeth are finally getting married. (Never mind the fact they've been technically married since the draft... shhhh.)
Rating: Keep it G, people, this is a public venue.
[The ocean has returned, the day is clear and sunny, and wedding fever is back in the air.]
[This time the location is the beach, and between the setting sun, the waves, and the decor there is no lack of ambiance. little battery-powered votives in paper lanters litter the space, and larger lanterns line a yellow petal aisle that leads up to a decorative arch with a few chairs. Over to the side is the reception set up, which looks like it can accommodate more guests than the ceremony. Frames draped with chiffon and lit with little electric light strings indicate both food and bar/drink areas, and similar setups surround both small and large tables for seating, lit both with electric lights and votives in varying glass jars. And of course, there’s music and an open floor for dancing.]
((OOC: Close CR/specifically invited friends are welcome at the ceremony, but the party is definitely for anyone who wants to come see the spectacle or welcome back the ocean! ♥ ))

It's fine. I mean, I wasn't entirely sold on it until we - Silver and I - finished dyeing it. [So there's -- no need to bow to her. What for, apologizing? Really no need. She glances at her hand - ah, maybe she should move it? - and ends up doing so, letting it hang by her side again. It gives her less butterfree in her stomach, less bubbles in her fingertips. The reception's mood must be getting to her at long last.] Thank you, again. I'm really, really glad you think so.

She's so cute. And he doesn't necessarily mean her hair. No, he means everything about her ]
You're not basing your whole choice on me, are you?
no subject
Of course not! [-- Was she? No --! No, of course not!] I'm just happy you think I look nice with my hair dyed like this! [Yeah! She jerks her hand back, switching it to twirling her hair but... It's more like tugging it instead. Nothing too hair, but not gentle, either.] Silver said the same thing and I thanked him, too, just like I did you so --
[-- why's she so - wound up over this, anyway? Her eyebrows press together, and she crosses her arms under her breasts. Boys.]
no subject
Well, I'd have never been so presumptuous as to assume it was because of me, anyway. [ Would he? Some part of him, some part of him in the pit of his stomach, couldn't help but wonder. He knew that he was into her, at least a little. He knew that she was into him, at least a little. But how much? How much did he want to be with her, and how much - if at all - did she want to be with him? It's a very tentative stage that they were at, a dance of immature emotions that might not even bear fruit.
... He'd forgotten how amazing the feeling was.
Silver, though. He laughs a little and waves a hand, dismissively ] Eeeh, I don't know if I'd trust Silver's judgement in that respect anyway, though.

Hilda said I looked really nice too. [...man, where did she go anyway.] Actually, she said I looked very lovely tonight. We came together, though I haven't seen her since she went to try her hand at getting a drink or two from the bar.
[...hopefully she hasn't gotten in trouble.]
She's really beautiful. I mean, she always is, but she's really outshone everyone else I've seen tonight. [Even, unfortunately, the bride. Though Hilda'd contest that.]
no subject
[ You know, with that sort of statement... it'd be silly for him to contradict it and praise her or the bride. Mostly because he did tell her he would tell her if she looks nice. ]
no subject
[That's three people who've solidly commented on her appearance being nice! And they're all sincere, truthful people. Of course she'd trust them.]

[ Rivals. He's still not sure if he's totally accepted that term or not but... he did meet her challenges with his own challenges. And she certainly seems to take it seriously. His smile might be crooked and a little ironic now, but he's starting to think (particularly after he missed her challenges on the mission) that he might just be taking it (taking her) seriously.
and he wonders what that means ]
no subject
So you two are serious rivals, huh.

[ He says this with a fake posh accent, putting his hand up to one of his pockets here. ]
no subject
Uh... [oh she should answer him] No, not at all! It's not hassling, it's just talk.
[Girltalk. Which kind of leads her to another thing.]
She chats so much about you I'm beginning to think she might have a crush on you.

no subject
...No, no. She was joking, just a bit, anyway. The way Hilda talks about Masaomi isn't the way a girl talks about the newfound love of her life.]
You never know. [She switches to clasping her hands behind her. Girlishly, almost fitting of someone her age.] Hilda's never used a stove before coming here, or tasted danishes, or anything else we'd take for granted. And she did say she's never had her first love, right?
[So o o -- she smiles, allowing herself to be a little mischievous.]
Maybe she just doesn't know how to show it.
no subject
[ With his lips quirking here, he grows a tad impish, leaning forward a bit while also taking a step back ]
But if you "take those for granted" on a day of love like this, perhaps we should share our tales of first love?
no subject
I don't really have one. [Nothing that's like, bam boom ka-pow levels of first love. Nothing instant or amazing. Not like Elizabeth described.] Not an exciting one. And -- love's kinda a strong word, right?
[She really doesn't know if she'd describe it as love.]

no subject
And what's the riveting story behind that?
no subject
[ He claps his hands together and takes a step back from her, smiling ] Once, in Saitama, there was a bright young boy by the name of Masaomi Kida. Unlike many of his fellow Y-chromosomes, he had taken to an appreciation to the female persuasion early on, and there was one girl among all the others which caught his eye - a beautiful rough and tumble tomboy who he wanted to win the affections of. For months, the boy actually made efforts to charm Shoko - he brought her dandelions and chocolates both, until finally when he asked her to go out and smooch him. She said she would...
If he could beat her in a race.
[ And then he leans in to say: ] And you know what? He lost.
[ He laughs it off, shrugging dramatic ] Turns out, based on some people I talked to later, Shoko went on to be a big time track star in high school, so I was even one of her earlier victories.
no subject
[Heheheh.]
no subject
[ And he is so curious ]

Crystal unclasps her hands, threading her fingers together instead. She stretches them down, a thoughtful look on her face.]
Well -- I was five years old at the time. [She smiles, nice and wide.] I was visiting Azalea Town with Mama -- she was there on business, and I was her assistant.
[Teeny tiny assistant Crystal.]
We were heading over to Kurt's house, actually. Mama needed some more specialty balls, she had a job from one of the carpenters in town, and she wanted to introduce me to him anyway... I thought it was gonna be kind of boring, to be honest. He didn't have any kids around my age back then at all, and all I wanted to do was to play with Wobbee. As we were walking, though, we found something really amazing --
[She leans forward a little.] a wild Farfetch'd. You wouldn't know this, since you're not from home, but - Farfetch'd are pretty rare. There's only a few places you can catch them in the Kanto-Johto region, and not one of those is anywhere near Azalea Town. Naturally, we were pretty surprised - but Mama was all like, "Found you!" As it turns out, that Farfetch'd was the one she was sent to catch. Or recapture, I guess, if we wanna be technical.
Farfetch'd are pretty flighty birds though, and this one was extra skittish. It'd been raised from an egg, according to Mama's client, so that probably explains why it was so nervous after running into the wild for a few weeks... Anyway, Mama saw it and quick as an Arcanine she got Wobbee out for battle. It was pretty amazing - and not in a good way - to watch... Wobbuffet won't ever attack on its own, so it seemed like a really odd choice for her to use, but that Farfetch'd was so spooked to tried to cut him right in half!
[Good times. Her story's already running on longer than Masaomi's, though. She leans back, shrugging her shoulders.]
Wobbee countered it, and Mama took care of the rest - it was a pretty easy capture, all things considered. We stopped by the carpenter's house before we went to Kurt's and the way his eyes shone when we gave him back his Farfetch'd... How grateful he sounded, and how much his pokémon missed him when he let it out to say hello...
[She pauses, then sighs; a little lovelorn.] I knew, right then and there, that I'd fallen in love with the idea of being as amazing of a catcher as Mama.
[...yep.]
no subject
... And so he's almost relieved, at the end, when the end of it is a bit of a cop out. Well, sort of. Because: ]
Oh wow, that young? And you've fought for that passion since there, Crystal-san? That's amazing.
[ He applauds for her too ]
no subject
And applause isn't necessary, but she'll take it.]
It's the whole reason I wanted to become one. [Her nose crinkles when she grins a little grin.] Not to mention the looks on everyone else's faces when Mama helped them out. I started paying a lot more attention to them, and I even answered letters from families she helped out in getting a pokémon.
[The older she got, the more she loved how kids lit up.]
It was... inspiring. It's not much like yours, though. I trained a lot out of the city when I was younger, and I was the only person my age volunteering at Violet City's academy when I got old enough to do so, so I guess I just never thought about it. [Disappointing, right. She knows. From an outsider's perspective, that's totally disappointing. She can almost imagine all the sighs they had for Hilda, except for her.]
