Song of the Golden Flower
Who: Elliot Nightray (
holyknights), Yellow (
moehealer), Yun (
tolivefortoday), Joshua Bright Princess Cecilia (
eyesofremorse), Leonhardt (
eyesofstrength) and Kazooie (
talontrot)
What: Escorting (and later, rescuing) a princess, because a RPG just isn't complete without escort missions and princess rescues!
When: April 28th-30th
Where: All over the place!
Summary: By chance, one small group of heroes encounters Princess Cecilia who, for some reason, appears to be fleeing from something at her home. Now, she seeks shelter with them... but things quickly turn out to be far more complicated than they seem. Or so the quest description claims, anyway...
Rating: No higher than PG-13 at most, I think?
For convenience's sake, the log will be split up into subthreads for the different parts of the quest plus general party interaction - if anyone feels there should be an extra thread for something, though, feel free to add it yourself. o/

General Party Interactions
Humongously Late Kazooie Thread - whenever!
She's totally okay with that. As her grinning beak suggests, she's all too happy to entertain whoever wants her for company.
But maybe it's not quite as honest at it seems. Perhaps it's a façade...
What will your character do and say to this mysterious bird?]
Meeting the Princess
And yet, he isn't the least bit surprised when on the morning of the 28th, he wakes up to find himself stuck in an all-too-familiar outfit... though unlike the last time something like this happened, it's also accompanied by the sudden urge to flee the house as quickly as humanly possible. Was that just because he wasn't living on his own anymore, unlike last time, or was that the result of the experiment as well...?
Regardless, it's not long before he opts to leave the house. Maybe he can check if there's an empty apartment in one of the community buildings. Hiding in one of those until this experiment ends again seems like a good idea right now.
Along the way, however, he quickly finds himself distracted by how different the village suddenly looks. Even if the layout is the same, the changes to the various buildings and the sudden abundance of both unfamiliar plants and people is more than just a little distracting to him right now. Particularly the people. Is it just him, or do they keep walking along the same paths...?
Be careful not to crash into the princess; he's really not paying as much attention to where he's going as he normally would.]

Watch where you're going!

It's not very nice to yell at fair ladies, you know! [Where Yun appeared from is kind of pointless, since she'll never admit to following Mr. Red Mage Nightray here while trying to decide whether or not he was an easy target, but oh well. She's here now! Don't mind that she's stopped to stand right next to him. She probably won't pick his pocket while he's having his little fit.
Probably being the key word, of course. She hasn't been doing too well on resisting that urge to steal everyone's stuff during this.] What a rude man...
[But who's this woman in the fancy dress anyway?]
Are you all right?
oops sorry for being late aah
..Oh dear. What's going on over there? She'll go ahead and walk on over to make sure everything is alright!]
It's fine!
When Elliot and Yun both address him, Joshua bows his head slightly, clasping his hands over the brooch on his dress. He'd rather not speak to anyone right now, but... even if he had a reliable way to get out of this situation easily, it feels as if he should say something to these two... as well as the other girl that approached. Perhaps that was part of the experiment's effect as well?]
Oh... My apologies, sir. I fear I was paying too little attention to my path... [As he speaks, he raises his voice a bit to make it sound more feminine - much like he did back during the play in his world. Right now, it's probably better if he sticks to this way of speaking.]
I am all right... but I should not linger here for long. [For some reason, there's a hint of urgency in his voice. He's really not sure why, but it really feels like he should find somewhere to hide; far more so than during the horoscope experiment in December. It's strange.
...Hm. But maybe... maybe there's an alternative to running away and hiding? Whatever it is he's trying to hide from. At this point, he's... not entirely sure, honestly.]

He was taking up quite a bit of the path as it was, so don't apologize too much! [Yun hops a step forward and peers up at Joshua.] Oh? Why? You were a hurry. Are you being chased?
[She hopes it isn't guards. She's not sure why she would worry about guards in Luceti of all places, but it's just a thought that happens! It must go along with the entire thief thing.]

Um... Has something happened?

And yet, as though something was making him act according to a script, his actual response ends up being vastly different from his actual thoughts.]
Indeed, I am being followed... and I fear they may soon find me, should I linger in this area. But I cannot allow them to return me to that place...
[He pauses, taking a moment to look over the trio before continuing.]
You three... May I request your names? [He's spoke to one of them before, sure, but he still feels the need to ask all of them. This whole thing feels immensely weird, but somehow, going along with the way the experiment is affecting this behavior almost seems like a good idea for once.
...Maybe that's just because acting this way doubles as a decent way to conceal his identity. The less people realize that he got stuck in a dress again, the better, after all.]
no subject
[Does she know the area like that...? Really? She's quiet a moment to consider it and, yes, she finds she does. That's a weird bit of information to suddenly have!]
Oh, I'm Yun. I don't know who these two are, though!

But um... If someone's following you, then we should go find a place for you to hide. [Even if Yun doesn't happen to know the area that well, Yellow sure does...! But yeah. They could probably ask the whos and whys as they're hiding this princess somewhere. If these people are following her, they could be here any minute!]

Once all three finish introducing themselves, the princess gives a small nod in acknowledgment.]
My name is Cecilia. [Considering his attire, it's an appropriate alias right now.] It is an honor to meet you, Yun, Elliot and Yellow. [ ... ] And Chuchu, as well. [He feels a bit awkward addressing that odd rat-like creature like he would a human, but... well, here in Luceti, you never know. For all he knows, it'll start talking any moment, too. Besides, it somehow feels more appropriate to address everyone, for some reason.
But that said, he'll address the questions - mainly Yun's initial question.]
I am willing to explain, but it may be best to find a safer location first. If you would be so kind as to lead me to such a place, it would be most appreciated.
[Even if there shouldn't actually be a risk of anyone catching up with them for a while, it really does feel as if they should find some sort of hiding place first...]
