What: Masaomi being hospitalized
When: June 9th night -> June 11th
Where: Tunnels -> Med Center
Summary: Masaomi is critically injured back during the mission and after he gets back people cart him off to the Battle Dome's med center, where he is treated. People can then visit him.

[A drowsy Aang carefully cracks open the door when Masaomi's awake in the morning.]

[At least he still has his humor. He grins as enters the room to a live studio audience and walks to the bedside]

Enjoying my expert seduction of the nursing staff here. All I had to do was have a warhammer shatter my arm, it was a fearless and bold plan, but I-!

[he is going to spin more of a sarcastic bullshit tale... when he hears a sound similar to a sword coming out of it's Scabbard come from Linda. Who on the bedside stable just covered her tail with a thin but solid layer of metal as she readies and iron tail, and Masaomi cuts off into a laugh[

[He flinches slightly, hearing about the warhammer, since he didn't really know the details of Masaomi's injury. But Linda's reaction helps him to focus on his smile.]

It's good to see you making jokes again, Masaomi. [But still, one detail distracts him from Masaomi's condition.] Is... is Linda's tail metal?

...Ah, yes. It's a technique we worked hard to learn last month.

[But you shouldn't be threatening him with that? Linda sighs and releases the hold, causing her tail to normalize]

Wow. A lightning mouse that can make her tail metal. You're real amazing, Linda. [He turns his attention back to Masaomi.] Do you know how long you'll have to stay?

Most likely until the end of the week. I think I was told four days?

[Maybe more. He would shrug but with only one shoulder to move it would look silly]

A whole four days? Well, however it longs to take for you to be back to your full Masaomi-ness.

Back to my -- [..oh.] ...Aang-kun. This injury's way more serious than that. I'll have this cast on for the next month, probably.

[hell, it should be more. Rationally, he knows he'll be lucky if he could move this arm ever again. But Katara's a miracle worker]

I think I know what you mean. Maybe I haven't been here long enough, but there isn't really much around here to attack us except those vampire things. I haven't heard much about people being injured badly, so this is... pretty new to me.

Vampires, villains, Shift Hunters, Sparties. [You know, "Baskers" sounds stupid. But he likes "Sparties"] And there's more insidious killers too. [He hangs hie head, his smile fading] After all, I've killed a lot of people by now, haven't I?

[He's about to speak up, but the last sentence catches him off guard, and he averts his eyes. It's the one thing he doesn't want to consider about their life there. He remembers how distant Sokka had looked when talking about the drafts. I did what I had to do. We all have. That's part of living here. And that also reminds him of Sokka's current absence. Wherein he's probably doing more of that. Aang speaks in a weaker voice.]

I don't know the answer to that.

[There's a dark sort of chuckle at this. Linda reacts to his melancholy, looking at him intently with concerned eyes. Unabashed concerned mostly because no one is looking at her. Masaomi just presses on, not really raising his head]

Naturally. No one really can but me... aaaah, if I were to count it, there's been dozens by now. It'd be easy to say that they weren't human, but it's still a life even if it's a worthless one.

Every life's supposed to be worth something. That's what I was raised to believe. [Pause. "This is where we are, Aang. Right or wrong doesn't matter."] But things are... things are so different, here.

No. [Flatly, and hr raises his eyes to be more level with Aang now] To be honest, very little's probably different in that department. Every life starts worth something, but a life dedicated only to violence and suffering? What sort of a joke is that? That existence isn't worth calling "life," right?

[A light hum] Or, that's how I've rationalized it. To date, I've only killed one person who doesn't meet that standard.

[He struggles to meet Masaomi's eyes. He knew he was a good person, that he cared for Katara. But he didn't know what to make of this... especially the last statement. How much of what he had done been caused by Luceti?]

I don't like to believe that. That any living thing can ever be beyond saving... or just being contained. It's... this place, isn't it? This place and the Malnosso who are forcing these choices on us. [And he dreads the day it will be forced on him.]

I thought you were more responsible than that, Aang-kun.

[Flatly. so. So flatly as his gaze which had been even now just turns into a blank stare]

Blaming a place for people's choices isn't a very sound thing.

It's not like this is just a place. This... Luceti is like something that tears us from where we belong, and it manipulates us, tries to changes us. I don't think I can judge people so easily for what they're driven to do in this place. Especially if there was no other way.
