[A Town Meeting for how to handle the situation. No doubt people will come and speak up about things in turn. Despite the fact that I'm posting with Scorpius he's obviously not the one organizing it. There's an OOC Plotting Post here.

This post will have two subthreads mostly for quick and easy organizational purposes - one to put aside the proposing of ideas or questions, ICly (if you want to not write out the whole thing ICly you could just put up an OOC description of what they're doing. and then a second for mingling which isn't necessarily publicly proposing some big idea or question

[He used the full title and not the nickname; his voice is too calm. Lupin doesn't smile, but leans back on his heels next to Smoker with his hands deep in his pockets and thoughtfully puffs on a cigarette.]

Looks like we're in real shit this time. Wanna move ahead with that idea you had, or try to wait out the chaos?

[Nods in response to the name, taking a personal note that this must be signs of Lupin getting serious.]

Hm. A little waiting couldn't hurt.

[The marine might not care much whether everyone decides to protect Catherine, turn him in, or kill him themselves so that the other Malnosso couldn't have him, but he does expect he'll need to get ready for a fight to protect a few kids or hot-headed idiots.]

[There's a light hearted lilt to his tone, a little bit too forced to be wholly natural for the thief. While he had nothing personally at stake with the fate of Bil, he had all ready made his choice. He didn't fear the Reaper, but he feared for his friends.

It was why he wanted to tell them personally.]

What do you say we meet up for drinks later? I found some more of that rum you love, and I figure it's better to party a little before our time's up.

[There's a quick flicker of surprise. As much as Smoker sort of has friends (Hina, Ikki, Zenigata) Lupin just says it so easily. The way Luffy said he was going to rescue an entire kingdom and deal with a rogue shichibukai just for the sake of friendship. It's startling to the marine at least.]

Sounds like a plan. [A slightly light-hearted grin, the permanent grumpiness ebbing away a little as he nods.] Try not to do anything too stupid with all this, all right punk?

[Lupin might call him a friend, but Smoker's still gonna be tsun-tsun. This is why he has so few friends.]

I know what I'm doing, Captain. [Again, the serious appelation in a light tone. Lupin chuckles at the tsun-tsun, fully expecting such a reaction. It was their balance. He would have had it no other way.]

But, enough of that. Drinks tonight, and I have a few ideas for how to surprise her when this is over.

[Who 'she' was remains unsaid--it could be any woman that he knows or Smoker knows. Does the Marine catch the subtext?]

[Nods his head again. He isn't sure which "she" Lupin meant, possibly Grell, possibly Fujiko, for all he knows Lupin means Dr. Adele, or all three, but either way, drinks was a thing that was going to happen. Yay.]
