Summary: Several people have received simple, written invitations asking them to meet at the rec center for a proposal.

[This is the log in which Shikamaru collects people and they get to talking about the task at hand for disseminating information, and possibly recruits them into the agency thereafter if they're still interested. People will likely be showing up at different times, so he speaks to everyone one-on-one instead of in a group.

The proposal will be offered to each character who shows up casually - no hard feelings whatever you decide to do - but with firmness. This is a group that will be dedicated to intelligence research and analysis, not information gathering. It's nothing flashy or exciting, but he expects discretion and it's a job that shouldn't be taken lightly. Those who accept the offer will be told things should be up and running withing two weeks.]

Ignoring all the pleasantries... I'm considering getting together an intelligence agency. Someone like you could see that value that would have here, no doubt.

[He knows a little about her from missions, and she's contributed on public networks before.]

An intelligence agency? [What an interesting idea.] One with the express purpose of discovering new and useful information, or one with more of an organizational focus?

The latter, mostly. I suppose you could say we look to organize information that isn't widely known.

[Which is kind of like discovering new and useful information, depending on your point of view.]

That and making it available to the public.

But not too public, I imagine, hm?

[Look at her face, though. She likes this idea quite a lot, or at least appears to.]

It sounds about as useful as we are going to manage to be with what we know. Am I here to be included in those plans?

In part. Information gathering I'm leaving to outside sources, but everyone is encouraged to contribute. [A lot of the people he's talking to are mission go-ers, after all.] But the people I'm assembling I'd like to charge with looking further into the intelligence we receive.

I see. May I ask how many people you intend to assemble, then?

Mm. I'd originally intended this to be a smaller project, but I got more response than expected. For now, it looks like it may be between ten and twenty people.

That's a notable fraction of our population. You must have some kind of method of insuring our discretion. As much as I wish it were possible, not everyone here is going to stick to an honor system.

[There's something she still hasn't said, and a half-smile appears when she realizes it.]

One idea is to alternate between members and non-members when delivering the reports. If many people are the public face of it, it makes it harder to judge who's actually involved.

If you can avoid resentment among those that aren't members, that sounds like a great idea. You have experience with something like this?
