jamesbarnes: ([steve] I'm following him)

Who’s here to prove that we can?

Who: Everyone who wants to come except Loki. No one likes him and he smells funny. If you missed Bucky's journal post, I'm hand-waving another being made with the exact date, time, and place. Feel free to pretend your character saw it and decided to show up.
What: Baseball, a birthday party, and the 4th of July all rolled into one.
When: Backdated to INDEPENDENCE DAAAAAAY
Where: AMERICA The Battle Dome
Summary: Bucky is throwing Steve a baseball game for his birthday. Everyone is invited to play or watch, then have some barbecue and watch the fireworks at the end of the day.
Rating: PG? If you end up behind the bleachers, take it to appointments.

With a whole lot of help from his friends, Bucky has been working on this party for a little over a week. When they enter the Battle Dome, party guests will find themselves under a clear blue sky in a version of Yankee Stadium (circa 1930). There are far fewer seats, anticipating a much smaller turnout, but some of the seating area has been converted into large picnic tables and benches, spread with checkered table cloths and, of course, a lot of food. A few barbecues are set up, along with coolers - some packed with meat, and others with cold drinks.

A stack of red, white, and blue cupcakes sits on a table near the center. There's a wooden baseball bat and a handful of markers there as well, with a note beside it asking friends to sign it for the birthday boy. Gifts can also be left there, or presented in person of course.

The game itself will take place at noon. Those who don't know how to play will be invited to arrive an hour beforehand, and Bucky will teach them the ropes. Powers will be restricted to normal human levels for the duration of the game. (Which can be lifted after, if people want that.)

After baseball, everyone is welcome to eat and mingle, then settle in to watch the fireworks show when the sun goes down.

[Wow, what's wrong Mr.Grumpy gills? Not used to the losing thing?

Of course, this calls for Henry saying good game and all that stuff. Gotta comfort the losers afer all.]

Good game, Tony. You've got a really strong throw.

[ His pouting is entirely justified, thank you very much. Lousy losing team...

He gives Henry a dry look. ]

Are you patronizing me? A bit young for that, aren't you?

[personal profile] theboywiththebook 2013-07-16 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[It's totally not patronizing....

Okay, maybe a little. Just to get back at Tony for the time in the tunnel.]

Maybe, maybe not. I almost didn't even hit the last one you threw at me though.

[But, then he did and it went pretty far.]

Almost isn't worth much, kid. You either did or you didn't - and, you did.

[ THANKS FOR BRINGING IT UP. ]
theboywiththebook: (Oh yeah we got this)

ugh im sorry for not getting back to this sooner.

[personal profile] theboywiththebook 2013-07-26 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[NO PROBLEM TONY!]

Aw come on, it was still a pretty hard throw.

[Maybe. Almost.]

Though maybe you were going easy on me.

Maybe I was. [ Sure, let's go with that. ] I'd hate to put a kid out in the rain. Is that the expression?
theboywiththebook: (it's coming)

[personal profile] theboywiththebook 2013-07-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I think it goes putting a dog out in the rain. If you were going easy on me, that probably wasn't the best idea. Shouldn't we have let your Team win? Since it's Steve's birthday.

Kids trump birthdays. Probably. He's a grown man - he won't cry about it.
theboywiththebook: (heh gotcha)

[personal profile] theboywiththebook 2013-08-01 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'll remember that for your next Birthday than if we do some kind of game.

[Gonna have to let him win now on every Birthday, Tony.]

I figured he wouldn't though. He's a pretty good sport.

[Unlike some.]

Then I just won't invite you to my birthday.

[ Yeah. Deal with that, Henry. ]
theboywiththebook: (You're kidding)

[personal profile] theboywiththebook 2013-08-01 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure Pepper would though.

[Bringing Tony's woman into this? Oh yeah he is.]

Suppose not much...but, aren't you supposed to be running a company or something back home? I mean, my mom ran a town and she's really serious.

[She's also kind of evil.]

[ His expression flickers for a moment. ]

No - I don't do that anymore. Pepper does. It's been that way for awhile now.

[personal profile] theboywiththebook 2013-08-06 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Really?

[There's a pause for a moment. Hmm...Well, there's only one thing to say about that.]

Awesome! So, what's it like being a super hero back home? I mean, it's probably not much different than here, right?
