Now the story of a wealthy family...
Who: The Starks, others who might be stopping by??
What: Meet your new family.
When: August 2nd
Where: The Stark household somewhere on Lake Catheria
Summary: Kari drops in on her dad's family...who didn't know she existed. Welp.
Rating: A for Awkward
After Tony finds Kari on his doorstep, it's time for her to meet the family! Meet Kari, react among each other, wander over to the homestead and marvel at the palpable awkwardness. Maybe by the time dinner rolls around, some semblance of normalcy will have returned.
Yeah, not likely.

[Given he had to come home to being delivered the news, she could understand him not really wanting to see her. But this was her brother! Brothers were something she could handle. Even if she never had any growing up, there was a certain sense of closeness that came with growing up in Lowtown that meant she had plenty of "siblings" around. If she could handle them, surely she could this?]
[Sometime after dinner when things start winding down, she decides to take a chance to try and talk to him. Be cool, Kari. Be cool!]
...u-uhm. Hey there.
[...cool.]

....
Yeah, that's probably her. His expression is difficult to read, but it's not exactly warm and welcoming, that much is for sure. He has no idea what to say or how to handle this. He feels like he's being greeted by a home invader his parents invited to stay.]
...You're Kari.

And. You're William, right? Do you go by any nicknames, or...?

[His voice is curt, and he finally looks away. She doesn't look older, even by just a year or so; he's taller, lanky but still with more bulk than her. How harmless she looks is actually kind of pissing him off. How can someone so unassuming be flipping his whole life upside down?]
no subject
Okay then, Just William. [She's toeing a close line between mocking and joking here. Not even she's sure which side she's on.] So, your other brother's name is... Gai, right? I don't think I've had a chance to meet him yet.
no subject
...Gai, yeah. I'm sure he's around here somewhere.

[Even a little? Maybe? She can dream, at least.]

Yeah, I'm sure it's really exciting to get adopted into a wealthy family like this.

[She's not so humble to deny that it's kind of true, but he doesn't have to go saying it like that...]
no subject
[She does kind of have him, there, but he's not very good about looking at a situation from someone else's perspective, particularly when he's caught up in his own issues about all of this.]

[There was a part of her that was always expecting to be just cast aside after she found out who her father was. She never expected to be welcoming into the family like this, even if there did seem to be some discomfort on both sides.]

Look, I don't know if this is legit or not, but I don't care. I'm not here to be friends, I'm not your little brother, and I'm not okay with this. I'm putting up with this because I don't have a choice, but don't expect me to just say that you're family.
