Iiiiit's Monday, and that means it's time for class!
Who: All the fine students of Luceti U!
What: IT'S TIME FOR COLLEGE, YO.
When: September 8 - 12th.
Where: All over "campus".
Summary: It's the first week of class for all you wonderful students, both new and old! Enjoy catching up with friends, trying to find your classes, engaging in all aspects of college life, and... let's not forget about the upcoming game.
Rating: PG-13 at best, guys. I know this is supposed to be college but if you're going to engage in the more... racy aspects of college life, take it off-comm!
---
This is the general catch-all log for the event. You know the drill by now. There's a separate log going up that will be used for Featherbook. Please feel free to use the two logs in tandem with one another. In fact, we encourage it!

Jane Foster
Jane loves her philosophy and sociology classes, and is always up for a debate or two about the state of humanity (and sexism, or racism, or agism, etc.). If not in class she might be at the theater, trying to talk whoever is in charge into doing a very serious play instead of yet another cheesy musical.
B. Students Against the Abuse of Power (SAAP)
Jane started this organization when her desk in class collapsed out from under her, and the same day the school paper ran an article about the football team's new uniforms and practice equipment. She is planning a protest of the BIG GAME and the complete misappropriation of student tuition. Meetings are in the evenings by the fountain. Bring your discontent and sign-making materials!
C. Anything Else.
Jane can often be found behind the sociology building smoking 'herbal' cigarettes and contemplating how unfair life is. Bring her a big black coffee and you're in like Flynn. She likes her coffee to match her soul - dark and bitter. :) Oddly, though, she's not completely antisocial. If you not an obvious tool, she'll probably talk to you.

[ He'll never understand why she isn't a member of the drama club- it would make such changes so much simpler- but Students do have limited time. All the same he's never shyed away from her discussions. ]

Well there's your problem right there. Leaving such important decisions up to these airheads? How are they supposed to learn how to direct serious actors when the most involved emotion in these musicals is being a lovesick puppy? It's nauseating. And completely unrealistic.

Doesn't it bother you that this is contributing to the 'dumbification' of today's youth?

[ Where is that bottle of brandy- no that's a prop. No, that too is a prop. Arsenic? Also a prop. This is why Vastra keeps the good brandy. ]
While I applaud your passion and point of view, you must realize that preventing students from making whatever choice they would is also problematic.

[She genuinely feels bad about the Nazi thing, so she'll back down. There's got to be a better way to channel her enthusiasm. Martial arts, maybe.]
I'm just not the singing and dancing type.

[ Ah there is- a bottle of water. He uncorks it and sniffs, making certain it hasn't been colored with- anything. It's clean. He pours himself a glass and offers it to Jane as well. ]
Yours is more of the spoken word than sung verse, true.

Words can be very powerful. I think the fact that you can have a song stuck in your head but not remember any of the words just proves how much the music muddles the message.

C!
As she gets closer, she can see it's the girl from earlier that day on Featherbook. Maybe she just needs a friend to feel better.]
Hello.

You lost or something?
no subject
Oh, no. I just thought it would be nice to have a little chat. How are you doing today?
no subject
Oh, it's you. I didn't scare you off the first time, huh? You're more determined than most people.
no subject
You didn't scare me at all. [She puts her head to one side.] Were you trying to be scary?
[It's a genuine question--there's no attempt to shame Jane whatsoever.]
no subject
Nah, it's just a natural talent. Some people sing, other people can dance... I scare the shit out of nice, ordinary folks.

[Safe?]
It's just the way it has to be.

She spots Kurt and makes a beeline for him. As usual she ignores the way he's dressed and how he's styled his hair. He's a few years younger and not entirely unlike a puppy, but he's handy and loyal, which is not something she can say about most people.]
Hey. Have any trouble?
no subject
Nope! Everything went well... The Man didn't stop me this time! [He tries to match Jane's standards. 'Try' being the key word.]
no subject
I knew I could count on you.
[She's leaning against the side of the building, cool as can be, heavily lidded eyes betraying her pleasure at having satisfied her craving.]
So what've you heard about this geology club. They're having a party and you know I don't go to those kinds of things but their president's lobbying hard to get me there. Some guy named Thor.
no subject
A - a party? How come I didn't hear about that? ...Not that I care about those party things! But, um... that Thor guy. I think I've heard of him. Isn't he on the... football... team? [He says very hesitantly, knowing the football team isn't a very comfortable topic with her.]
no subject
[He'd been so defensive about his little fraternity. She was tempted to show up just to make a scene.]
Find out the details, would you? I think maybe I should make an appearance.

I'm just trying to pacify this counselor who's suddenly decided I'm the most maladjusted human being on campus. Maybe if I go to a party she'll get off my back.
