Iiiiit's Monday, and that means it's time for class!

Who: All the fine students of Luceti U!
What: IT'S TIME FOR COLLEGE, YO.
When: September 8 - 12th.
Where: All over "campus".
Summary: It's the first week of class for all you wonderful students, both new and old! Enjoy catching up with friends, trying to find your classes, engaging in all aspects of college life, and... let's not forget about the upcoming game.
Rating: PG-13 at best, guys. I know this is supposed to be college but if you're going to engage in the more... racy aspects of college life, take it off-comm!

This is the general catch-all log for the event. You know the drill by now. There's a separate log going up that will be used for Featherbook. Please feel free to use the two logs in tandem with one another. In fact, we encourage it!

[He steps in, very comfortable in these surroundings by now, and slips off his shoes]

I'm good, Rei-neechan. We were learning about birds in school today!

Birds?

[She meanders over to the couch and sits down.]

What kind of birds? Lorikeets?
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-16 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Lorikeets and other kinds of parrots! Did you know there's over three hundred kinds?

[You know now]
faithfulflame: (Rei Not at all)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-16 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I didn't know that at all. What other kinds are there? What's your favorite?
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-17 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
There's budgies, they're related to lorikeets! And cockatoos and cockatiels, they're not the same thing at all. I think macaws are my favourite though, they're all big and colourful!
faithfulflame: (Rei Not at all)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-17 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Mmmmm. And what's different between a Cockatoo and a Cockatiel?

[She's doing that adult-ish thing of half listening while preparing things. You know, like a big sis might, so she can immediately feed him.]
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-18 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[He's just happy to have someone listening at all]

Cockatiels are the really little ones. Cockatoos need a whole lot more space.
faithfulflame: (Rei Positive Thinking)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-18 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
And how big do they get?

[Plates and cups down...fridge opening]
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-18 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Cockatiels get to be about a foot long and they're kinda skinny. But cockatoos can be twice as big.
faithfulflame: (Rei Teasing)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-19 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's...a pretty big bird. What's the biggest, though?

[And over to the stove to start cooking that pasta...]
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-20 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
The biggest parrots are some of the macaws that can be three feet high. But the biggest bird is ostriches, even if they can't fly.
faithfulflame: (Rei Red Dress)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-20 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I thought it was emus?
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-20 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They're the second biggest. Ostriches can get to nine feet tall!
faithfulflame: (Default)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-21 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Really? And what's the smallest bird, huh?
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-25 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's a kinda hummingbird. It's only as big as a bee!
faithfulflame: (Rei Intrigued)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-25 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I didn't know that. But I knew hummingbirds were very, very small.

[Pasta on!]

Okay, so smart guy. Tell me what kind of bird can turn their head all the way around.
splashpuppy: (Ummm...)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-25 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[He considers that for a moment]

That's owls, isn't it?
faithfulflame: (Rei Red Dress)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-26 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
It is! Exactly right, Hajime-kun.

[A pause while she puts on sauce...]

And what is the smartest bird?
splashpuppy: (Ummm...)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-27 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Okay, now he's stumped]

I don't think we learned that one...
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-28 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Neat! Why are they so smart? How do you even find out how smart a bird is?
faithfulflame: (Rei Pretty Mature)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-28 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly? I'm not sure why. But I know there were studies and tests that show crows adapt better and even use tools. And they remember faces.
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-09-30 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That is pretty smart for an animal... figuring out if they can do that would be a neat job, too!
faithfulflame: (Default)

[personal profile] faithfulflame 2014-09-30 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely. I imagine it would be fascinating.

Do you think you want to be one when you grow up?
splashpuppy: (Default)

[personal profile] splashpuppy 2014-10-01 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You know... I think I would!

[He's wanted to be a lot of things when he grows up. But right now he's going with that one.

Next week it'll probably be something else.]
