SPECIAL NOTE!! - Since this didn't come up before (but should have, my bad), there are actually a minimum of 400 Third Party soldiers in each area as opposed to in total. This means there are 1200 of them over all.

That's really all the encouragement she needs to change her mind. She's used to handling her own problems. This is no different than anything else. And it's not as if it's not something he couldn't figure out for himself.]

[And as she turns to go she does just - hesitate.] Did Sokka tell you...

[Headtilt. Hmm. Well if it's anything important, he's sure she'll bring it up to him.]

Ah, he didn't, but I assumed that you would be making use of it! It will make for a valuable asset with your bending, yes?

[She nods. Brook might notice that instead of her usual one waterskin, Katara currently has three on her back.] Yeah, and I've had a lot of time to think of how I can use it against them without the power cap.

[She turns back and shuts the door behind her.] Luceti didn't effect my control. It just changed how much water I can bend. What you've seen me do, I can usually do double that. When I get to the river, it should be enough for me to grab them right out of the sky.

[Briefly, he thinks back to half-forgotten images... water twisting in fantastic forms and waves. He wonders for a moment if it's anything like that, but dismisses the thought. He'll see for himself soon enough.]

What else will you be able to do, if you don't mind my asking?

[She shrugs.] I don't see that lasting very long, unless the Third Party is really stupid, they'll see that I'm taking the sky away from them and won't want to stick around.

[Or, you know, they'll attack her en masse to try to make her stop.]

So what I'd probably do next would let me be a bit more mobile - I can freeze their wings in the air. [Depending on how much water she's using? That won't be all she can freeze.] All it would take is for someone to follow up with shattering them. I could probably coordinate with that too, but...

While they're in the air, Toph won't be able to see them. So I'm going to take the sky from them. And then when they land...

[You guys should be able to take it from there. Toph certainly will be able to - she just doesn't like to think of Toph having to kill.]

I can take care of that, along with anyone else who might be comfortable with doing so. [He understands - he doesn't like the idea of asking Usopp or Chopper of that himself, even if he's seen them decimate zombies when they have to.

Considering now.] I might even be able to accomplish that before they hit the ground, in some instances.

If I move quickly, I can run across the water! If you were to make a wave reach high enough, I could dart along it and slice them down before they had the chance to do anything about it.

[A quick grin.] I could do that! In fact, I can make the water hard under it so I can run on it too, but...

...but you might not even need to do that - Toph can raise the earth just as much as I can. It would be just as fast, and you wouldn't need to risk anything...

...the only probably would be that Toph wouldn't know which way to point it, if they moved in the sky.

I could always point her in the right direction - or... actually. [Ponder, ponder.] No, that would only work on the ground, I believe. Nevermind!

But if I couldn't do it myself, there are several whom I'm certain could. Usopp-san has a good eye, for instance.

Good. [She hesitates.]

Toph's only twelve, Brook. It doesn't make a difference in the way she fights, and I know that she'll be there for us... but killing like this...

If it can be helped, I will not let it come to that. [To be honest? He's not even comfortable with the idea of her and her brother having to.]

But there's only so much I can do. [He'll try - be damned if he doesn't try. But he can only promise to keep her out of a situation that he knows without a shadow of a doubt would lead to that.]

[Nod.] We've fought in wars before - Toph and Sokka even more than I have. But with bending... we don't always have to fight to kill. We can knock people out or hold them just as easily.

...but we can't go back to Luceti until they're all dead.

Just because they have to die doesn't mean that all of you have to be the ones that kill them. If you find yourself in a situation you are uncomfortable with, tell me and I will find another way to take care of it.
