Who: All Draftees
What: Killing Third Party members and taking names
When: 7/26 - 7/31
Where: Sirry Crags
Summary: Mass-interaction for those out on the battlefield. Feel free to make team threads along with individual ones or however you wish. Action tags are fine here along with prose. For those plotting mischief, this is the place to do it.
Rating: R for the likely violence since killing will most definitely happen, but this is more for interactions during the battles.

[And early on the 26th everyone gets sent out. Thanks to Caesar's organization, most everyone has been placed in groups, even if some people plan on leaving their groups at some point. Check out this post for the details. If you haven't posted to this post and want your character on a team, please do so.]

Special note: Ignore the comments that said there would be 400, that has been retconned and we were told 1200 Third Party members from the start. Enjoy killing them off and taking names.

Special note 2: I asked Akai if any of the Third Party will be coming and dealing with their incapacitated allies, and they will. So assume that unless something is done to prevent this, those injured Third Party members may come back later healed and ready to attack again (though possibly not as effectively).

go ahead and skip him for now, he won't be of any use! :D

[He's thinking: GET OUT OF HERE, GOLBEZ! GO AWAY! How ironic for Kain that the one and only time he wants to die is also going to be the one and only time he'll be saved. He hates Golbez even more right now for breaking in.]

[As Golbez and Yuber begin to fight, Kain nearly collapses, leaning heavily on his spear for support. But his eyes are on the fighters the whole time. With a pained gasp, and many silent curse words, he forces himself to stand upright once again. He can't make himself move another step, so instead he launches his spear forth toward the combatants, throwing it with all the energy he has left...]

[But not at Yuber. He throws the spear at Golbez.]

[...and then he collapses to the ground, still semi-conscious. Hurry up and win this fight, Yuber.]

Consider him skipped!

[The flame doesn't appear to have any effect. Alright, fine, he'll file that information away and move on to other tactics.

Unfortunately those other tactics are going to have to wait, as the sudden interference from those three summoned demons forces him to take defensive measures. Just as they're about to finish their casting, Golbez tosses up what appears to be some sort of shimmering, transparent barrier. Only after the spells are off does it become apparent just what he's done.

The item he used is a Star Curtain, a magic item that reflects all magic attacks back at the caster. Those thirty lightning bolts crash directly into it and promptly rebound, arcing towards the demons. Kain's spear is unaffected, but all it really does is land point down directly at Golbez's feet, quivering in the ground. He ignores it, turning his concentration instead to building energy for his own next spell...

[OOC: Sounds like a fair compromise to me! I don't know that much (by which I mean anything) about Suikoden, so apologies in advance for any terminology I use that might be hard to reconcile between the games.]

[The relative ineffectiveness of his barrier is noted by Golbez, and he attributes it immediately (and probably correctly) to differences in the laws of magic between their two worlds. Another thing to note down.

The demons falling back doesn't deter his spellcasting any, since his target was Yuber all along. The summoning of the abomination is completed at the exact same time Golbez gets his spell off, which is both good for him because it means the attack isn't interfered with, and bad because he's going to be wide open to the creature's first attack.

Flare!

[The name might lull Yuber into thinking another fire attack is on it's way, but in fact the spell has no elemental affinity whatsoever. It's a simple but very powerful blast of pure concussive force, the second strongest spell in Golbez's arsenal. Only Meteo beats it out and that's only for number of targets.]

[OOC: The fact that both its animation and name are clearly fire-related notwithstanding, Flare qualifies as non-elemental. What the heck, FF?]

...ok i lie, just a quick Kain-post of reaction to that creature!

[In a moment when he's more on the conscious side of things, Kain lifts his head enough to see that abomination... and he's not sure whether to be disturbed or impressed that Yuber of all individuals commands such a thing. Maybe a mixture of both. But the way he feels currently, he leans toward more impressed, and hoping that the thing somehow destroys Golbez, and him, and everything else with it.]

[The more abilities Yuber demonstrates, the more Golbez wants this battle to end quickly. Evading the spell and causing it to strike the clearly sturdy monster instead tempts him to charge up a harder to dodge group spell instead, but there's no time, as the beast is upon him.

Golbez lifts his arms into a guarding position for each of the creature's blows, weathering the impact admirably but feeling definite crushing power even through his armor. This thing needs to fall, and it needs to fall now.
]

Come forth, creature of shadow!

[He'd been holding this ability back, but if ever there was a time for his summon it's now. A large black serpent materializes around Golbez, curling about it's master protectively as the two begin to levitate. Its mouth opens.]

Binding Cold!

[The creature's breath is not flame, as one might expect of a dragon, but instead a chill so deep it freezes one's ability to act, resulting in full-body paralysis to all enemies on the field.]

[OOC: The Binding Cold ability was never fully explained in the main game, but if Dissidia is to be believed it's the Shadow Dragon's breath attack, which explains why it's used as soon as the creature is summoned. Depending on how paralysis works in Suikoden, this may be the end of the fight, with Golbez taking advantage of Yuber's immobility to grab Kain and escape. Your call.]

[As Yuber and the abomination are frozen in place, Golbez glares down at them for just a brief moment.

But instead of attacking, he lunges over to Kain, lifting the dragoon up and tucking him under his arm, then begins to fall back, muttering a last Blizzara to cover the ground in between him and Yuber's group, hoping the slippery surface will help hold any pursuit off once they shake off the paralysis. The shadow dragon fades away as he withdraws.

[Kain has become increasingly out of it. But though he's barely there, he's aware enough to know that Golbez has him and is taking him somewhere... Which is exactly what he DOESN'T want to happen. It makes him despise Golbez more than usual. Too bad he's too hurt to move and can't speak a word in protest.]

[identity profile] cladinthedark.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, guess who doesn't care that you're pissed at him, Kain.

At any rate, they seem to have escaped by now, so Golbez slows just a little to a more maintainable pace, intending to return the group quickly and get Estelle to heal him.

[And that anger is just going to deepen over the week, since it's the one time he's hoping not to be saved. He deserves that fate more than Cecil. Looks like any progress toward tolerating Golbez will be shattered for a while.]

[Kain moves further and further into his own silent little hell, as they move on. Hard to say if the physical or mental pain is worse right now. Not to mention the humiliation of having Golbez carrying him off the battlefield. But fortunately enough for him, Kain passes out, unconscious for the rest of their return.]
