Her voice trails off as she begins to think. What could she do or say that would buy Vash time.

"I need to reserve clinic space, and I don't know when I'll be able to get that. Even if the surgery goes well and I operate on him in a week the recovery period is normally three years."

However she's known a young boy with a drive so powerful that he did it in one. The girl leans back so she may look at the sky. He hadn't ask her to not perform the surgery yet. This was good. She couldn't promise someone help, and then take it away. That's not what a good mechanic - a good doctor would do. Her fingers grip the fabric on the knees of her pants. What would her parents say?
