When she awoke she could not speak. She opened her mouth but no words came. When she tried to get up, tried to move her legs, she found she could not. There was nothing Natalia hated more than being unable to move, let alone speak. And yet this is what the Malnosso had dealt her.

I suppose I spoke too much. However I do not regret my decisions. These horrible scientists have done too much. I would raise my voice again.

It's easy for her to say, but now, still in her bloodstained shift and bandages around her neck but that doesn't mean words will come.

Her breathing hitches and with it a dagger of pain, as Natalia stares blankly up at the cieling. Would that she could speak. There was nothing but silence now, and pain--numbness. She had never been so tired before.
