Who: Everyone!
What: New Feather Party
When: Saturday Evening
Where: Rec Centre
Summary: Come one, come all! It's time for this cycle's New Feather Party!
Rating: PG -- to be changed in case of drunken shenanigans! Which are encouraged but it's a BYOB kinda deal. XD

[ooc: Alright everybody, here's how it works! Comment spam is the name of the game here and yes, my inbox can handle it! First comment is for anyone who's volunteered to help out and there's a lots of people so Selphie has already split everybody up into groups. aka: feel free to make your own groups. After that, there's just going to be general partyness going on! Threadjacking is more than encounraged (hell, it's expected and demanded) and there you have it! The grumps can come btw, they just can't grump at the party! xD]

The party was all set up and ready to go. The food had been delivered, the rec centre was thoroughly decorated and cheerful with its spring colours and Selphie was just hanging around waiting for the guests to arrive. Her small army of helpers had been hard at work since the day before and it hardened the perky brunette's resolve to make this one of the best parties she's ever thrown. A small part of her wished that her other friends from home and those who had left this place could be here to enjoy the party with everyone here. Even then, a larger part of her knows that it's better that they're not here.

Regardless, Selphie goes about getting this latest New Feather party arranged with every ounce of cheer and assuring those new people that not every people associated with Luceti is crazy. Giving them a welcoming environment to get to know some of their fellow residents is better than wondering what's going to happen next. Besides, it could help those shy people make some friends or get over their anxieties about social gatherings. Overall, Selphie felt that these parties were worth the hard work and would do them as many times as necessary.

Nishinomiya.

[Why is some old guy talking to her she was just here to look for potential new members for her Brigade. But oh well, might as well talk to him if he's talking to her.]

Japan?

What year are you from, then? I was brought over from 2007.
godbent: (Snow Mountain Syndrome)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-20 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, in Hyogo. [Wait, this guy's probably a foreigner] Closer to Osaka than it is to Tokyo.

...And 2005. I'm Haruhi, Haruhi Suzumiya.

[it's an... old guy might as well show some respect. A little bow]
consultmybooks: (Attentive)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-20 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[...it's Giles. He's not used to respect, to any degree. So this gets a startled blink.]

Giles. Nice to meet you.

And, um, duly noted. I'm afraid I've never been to Japan, however, so my only real frame of reference would be a map.

[He's pretty good with maps, though.]
godbent: (Never a penis)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's better than if you're from another world entirely and don't even know what Japan is, anyway. [...] But um, nice to meet you too.

[She's gotten so rusty with talking to adults in her time here]

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I have a few friends from Japan. But some of them are from rather far in the past, so I don't know if that would help much.

I'm rather attached to it because it's one place I've never had to go.

godbent: (Braless Girl (with bra))

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, from the past, huh? Any of them from the Bakumatsu? [After all, there's a few Shinsengumi here, it seems like a logical conclusion. Even if she... well okay, maybe she can understand that last point] -Wait, you're not a new feather, are you?

[Obviously, she isn't either. But.]
consultmybooks: (Consult my Books)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
[This takes Giles a second. Two of the people he was referring to are, in fact, Shinsengumi, but he's not terribly good with Japanese history.]

...yes, I believe so. That's the, um, mid-1800s, isn't it?

[And this gets a slight grimace.] Technically. I've been here before.
godbent: (Alchemy)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's right, the period leading to the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate and before the Meiji. [...She should clarify-] There's a few members of the Shinsengumi lurking around here; they were active in that time.

[...Hm. She looks the one one over, trying to decide if she'd seen him around before. Probably, but he doesn't stand out much aside from being well, older than most people here]
consultmybooks: (Hold On)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
I know one. And, um, someone who worked with them. But neither of them talk about home very much. [And, after one very sober conversation with Okita, Giles understands.] I imagine it's hard to think of your home in terms of someone else's history.
godbent: (Imagine you and me)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, well. It's hard for us to talk to them too, knowing their fate.

[Such the fact that from the timeline point Okita is from he'll be dead in like three years]
consultmybooks: (Hold On)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
[...yeah, Giles should probably be glad he doesn't really know Japanese history.]

But that can be the case for a lot of people. Everyone's from all over the place here.
godbent: (I summoned you not)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno, there's a lot of people - if they're from Earth - within the range of like 1995 to 2010. Unless you mean personal timelines, it's not that bad. Usually.

[...Okay so it can be that bad. Sometimes. She hasn't had a lot of canonmates]
consultmybooks: (Consult my Books)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Several personal timelines, yes.

...and is it just me, or do the ones from Earth all tend to be rather localized as far as geography? [It's something Archie mentioned that he'd like to double check.]
godbent: (Default)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[...Okay, considering this-] You mean how there's a ton of Japanese people and even then most of them are from Tokyo?

[Or does he mean the matter of like... people know each other and the astronomically small chances of that]
consultmybooks: (Consult my Books)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. And most of the ones who aren't from somewhere in Japan are from somewhere in America. Usually the warmer areas.
godbent: (Seriously I cried a little)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, really? [Does she know any Americans? Yes, where were they from though-]

Well if you're going to point that out, how about how weird it is that people can know each other from home at all? There's no way that should happen if it's totally random.
consultmybooks: (Wisdom is a Burden)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
You mean how this world brings over people who know one another?

I don't know, but there are times when it shows a preference for bringing over friends or enemies that know one another in relatively quick succession. When I first arrived here, three friends from my world did as well within a few days.
godbent: (Oh. Oh I see...)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, exactly. [...] That's never happened to me though.

[About people from home anyway]

And not just you. So it isn't anything that could be called a pattern.
godbent: (Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
You could still call it that, it just doesn't happen 100% of the time. So... more of a trend, maybe.
consultmybooks: (Dreams Can Hurt You)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Fair point. "Trend" would be better.

Luceti is very fond of "trends."
godbent: (...Except that one time.)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, it is. Teenagers galore, a lot of Japanese, a lot of people who are hero-types, there's a ton of them. I mean, you stand out because you're old-
godbent: (Answer Song)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
[...Erk-] -er than most people here.
consultmybooks: (Annoyed Beyond All Reason)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
[That's...actually about as good a save as Buffy managed. So Giles just...sighs in exasperation.]

Yes, I'd gathered that.

You're only including the humans in your assessment, yes? [Because Rachel, Spike, Remilia, and probably more than a few besides have at least a century on Giles, and he's sticking by that.]
