Who: Everyone!
What: New Feather Party
When: Saturday Evening
Where: Rec Centre
Summary: Come one, come all! It's time for this cycle's New Feather Party!
Rating: PG -- to be changed in case of drunken shenanigans! Which are encouraged but it's a BYOB kinda deal. XD

[ooc: Alright everybody, here's how it works! Comment spam is the name of the game here and yes, my inbox can handle it! First comment is for anyone who's volunteered to help out and there's a lots of people so Selphie has already split everybody up into groups. aka: feel free to make your own groups. After that, there's just going to be general partyness going on! Threadjacking is more than encounraged (hell, it's expected and demanded) and there you have it! The grumps can come btw, they just can't grump at the party! xD]

The party was all set up and ready to go. The food had been delivered, the rec centre was thoroughly decorated and cheerful with its spring colours and Selphie was just hanging around waiting for the guests to arrive. Her small army of helpers had been hard at work since the day before and it hardened the perky brunette's resolve to make this one of the best parties she's ever thrown. A small part of her wished that her other friends from home and those who had left this place could be here to enjoy the party with everyone here. Even then, a larger part of her knows that it's better that they're not here.

Regardless, Selphie goes about getting this latest New Feather party arranged with every ounce of cheer and assuring those new people that not every people associated with Luceti is crazy. Giving them a welcoming environment to get to know some of their fellow residents is better than wondering what's going to happen next. Besides, it could help those shy people make some friends or get over their anxieties about social gatherings. Overall, Selphie felt that these parties were worth the hard work and would do them as many times as necessary.

You're missing the point. Fine, your world sucks and you've hammered the point in forever. But how are the rest of us, from a different - from some stupid, mundane, boring world supposed to relate to that?! How do you expect us to react?! [And now she's raising her voice... getting a little defensive herself]

What I am supposed to say to some woman who's just mouthed off about some demonic massacre when we were talking about relationships? How am I supposed to feel when I'm held to some stupid standard that is utterly impossible to meet because I don't know it?!

[Okay. So. He's old. And it's been forever since she saw an old guy, so now she's making a scene about things that upset her. It happens]

Mostly? I expect them to raise their eyebrows and look startled for a minute. That's how most everyone reacts here. Even the ones who never believed in vampires before they arrived here.

You may come from a mundane, boring world, but this is far from a mundane, boring place. And for those of us who have had to keep quiet about this sort of thing for most of our lives, the chance to talk about it with anyone is hard to pass up.

And if Buffy and I are anything alike, once we stop pretending it's hard to start up again. Once we can actually connect with people because of how utterly insane our world is, instead of being locked up in some godforsaken asylum, it's something we want to keep doing. [And he has connected with people - Helios, Frederic, Robert, Raine. That's important to Giles.]

We may be utterly ruined for certain aspects of polite conversation, but we are the normal ones here.

[And...now he's arguing with a teenage girl. Great. Business as usual. God, Giles didn't even know he felt as strongly as he did about this.

Giles exhales tiredly, takes off his glasses, and starts cleaning. Waits a second for his voice to calm down]

That isn't to say that I expect everyone to understand. Nor should Buffy. Every world is different. Some people have a difficult time adjusting.

And discussing demonic massacres when the topic of conversation was relationships is a bit discourteous, yes.

But for Buffy, they have an unfortunate tendency to be one in the same. So I don't think any harm was intended on her part.

[...Oh dammit.]

[To be fair, Giles, if you take timelines into account she's probably pushing twenty mentally. Or will be. But she puts on a thoughtful look. she's not the person she once was... she can do this. She knows she can - the fact this person is taller and older than her, interestingly, helps]

...So that's how it is, huh?

I'm sick of this...

[There is so much more she could say, so much more she wants to say, but it's in public. It's in public so... she can't make a bigger scene than she already has. But she's sick of not understanding. She's sick of being told she can't comprehend. Because they can't comprehend her, and her struggles are just.. less important. Far less important and even if she knows that it's still frustrating. She hangs her head a little.]

...Well when you guys are done being liberated, why not try hoping on to the bandwagon of my SOS-Brigade? You already have an interesting life, might as well try to have fun while you can.

Sorry, the what?

[No, wait, wait, this is familiar...] I've...heard of you. Over the journals. Quite often.

But I'm afraid I'm still unclear as to what you, um, exactly are.

[...And now she gets indignant because the moment is over]

The Spreading Excitement All Over the World with Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade - SOS-Brigade for sort. We exist to make sure that everyone in this village leads a fun and interesting life, a worthwhile existence while they're here. And not just parties or things like this, we're also around to solver the mysteries of the world!

[And she's the Chief, so the minute they're on this. Well. Leadership position. She folds her arms and feels and looks much stronger]

["Spreading Excitement All Over the"...wait, what?]

The mysteries of Luceti in particular, or worlds in general?

[That's the easiest of the many questions he could ask.]
godbent: (Morning Dreamer)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Both. Anything which needs to be uncovered - provided it's interesting - will be by us.
consultmybooks: (This Should be Good)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Uninteresting things very rarely need "uncovering", certainly.

But it certainly sounds like a worthwhile goal.
godbent: (God Knows)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Damn straight it does!

[Hahaha]
consultmybooks: (Tea is Called For)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
And that's how you make certain people live worthwhile lives, is it? Keep them occupied solving problems?
godbent: (The Sigh)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
There's more to it than that. Everyone's got different priorities and some people are intent on making themselves lost causes but... [She shrugs. Mostly, she's just looking out for her own, but if it helps other people to boost her own popularity that's fine too]
consultmybooks: (Default)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-21 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
People like Buffy and me? Is that the sort of "lost cause" you mean?
godbent: (Monochrome)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-21 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, she might be. [Or she... might not] But as for you, I don't know you well enough.

[Flatly. So flatly]

consultmybooks: (Hold On)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-22 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
No, you don't. And I don't know you well enough.

So we're on equal footing there, at least.
godbent: (Lost My Music)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-22 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
...Well, equal enough, anyway.

[She's like a fraction of his age, and she knows that is... problematic. But she figures she's also been in Luceti longer]

So it's fair.
consultmybooks: (Dreams Can Hurt You)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-24 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
[And it's not like Giles is actually used to getting respect from people this much younger than him.]

...did we really reach this point just by my asking where you're from?

Apparently, I have even less skill at talking to people than I've been told.
godbent: (The Boredom)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-24 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, that happens sometimes. [She shrugs. Now that it's been decided as "fair" she's decided to just give this guys the benefit of the doubt. Plus, he's old]

Your name was Mr. Giles, right?
consultmybooks: (Default)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-24 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's right.
godbent: (Later chumps!)

[personal profile] godbent 2011-03-24 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Got it. Have a nice night, Mr. Giles. Sure we'll see each other later.

[And then a little wave before she steps on out, back into the crowd]
consultmybooks: (Wisdom is a Burden)

[personal profile] consultmybooks 2011-03-24 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure we will.

[Entirely nonplussed, Giles watches Haruhi make her way back into the crowd for a second or two. Then he shakes his head and goes to grab a seat out of the way for a while.]

Good Lord.
