What: Mike sneaks into Ami's house in broad daylight only to find she has a guest of the more permanent kind

Summary: Ami adopted Dil and he is now living with her. Mike is now feeling comfortable enough with Ami that he thinks it's a great idea to climb in her window with some ice cream. These two events become extremely related. The end.

Mike is feeling bored and antsy and wants to see Ami. So he takes the now familiar route to her house, including the also familiar detour to the store for some ice cream, and, since he and Ami are good friends now, dispenses with the door and just knocks on the window.

Er, it's habit.

Dil peeks out from behind the doorframe. ...Is that a giant turtle? It seems like it's at least a green person He focuses intently on it. Man, and people call him the weird one.

"Next time, please, use the door." Ami says this quite seriously, as though it's something she simply forgot to request, and should have, before. She turns back from Mike towards Dil.

"Dil, would you like to meet Mike? He's a friend of mine I met here. I can introduce you both."

Leave it to Mizuno Ami to make formal introductions right after a ninja crashed her house through the window.

"Oh, right, sorry." That was silly. She's only on the first floor.

Mike raises an eyeridge at the kid, though. What the...?

"Uh, hey."

...well, might as well go talk to him. he makes the entrance into the room

And he puts on a smile as he enters. The smile quickly turns into a smirk as alarm turns into excitement

"Oh man, you're friends with a giant turtle?! Awesome!"

Ami looks startled for a second, or perhaps embarrassed. Her eyes flicker to Mike to be sure he isn't insulted or offended. She isn't quite sure how Mike will react to being called that so openly.

It is what he is, sister. Mike grins at Dil's obvious delight.

"I am pretty awesome. Nice to meetcha, kid."

"Right back at you, dude."

He even breaks the distance and holds up his hand for a high five

"Somehow this is turning into having a guest over..." Ami observes somewhat ruefully. She looks quite pleased, though, with a tiny, private smile on her lips. It feels nice to have people around.

Mike can only respond with a high three, but it should be close enough, right?

"Well, this guest brought ice cream." He hefts the bag holding said treasure. "Want some?" This is directed to Dil, but he's looking at Ami out of the corner of his eye. The kid is cool, but why is he here? And also, you don't mind him dropping in like this, do you? He is belatedly realizing that maybe he should have called ahead or something.

...Wait. He can have some this early in the day?! With no foul? He looks at Ami there for confirmation. It's her house, so she's like... the baby-sitter, right? It's a hopeful look, but.

[Believe it or not? Ami believes in indulging in that sort of thing - once in awhile. She smiles.]

Let's all have a little bit.

[A glance to Dil.]

As long as it won't ruin dinner.

"Well, we wouldn't wanna ruin dinner," Mike says in mock concern, holding the bag a little farther out of reach. How do you react to teasing, Dil?

"No fair, turtle-dude! You're cold blooded, right - can you even have ice cream?"

It's an honest question, while the first half was a tad of whine, the second part is genuine curiosity.

Oh, this was going to be fun.

"That's right, Mike. Is it really alright? Maybe Dil and I should split your portion."

"Of course I can! It's cold, I'm cold-blooded. Works out perfect!"

The science may not be perfect, but it's Mike logic-approved.

"Noooot sure that's how it works but hey, if it works it works! and it's not going to spoil dinner if we just have a little, Ms. Mizuno!"

"Then you may have a little, and Mike may have his share, too." She hadn't been serious about saying no anyway.

"Woohoo!" Mike reacts like Ami holds all power over ice cream-related requests and goes into the kitchen to start dishing it up. If Ami and Dil are still in earshot, he'll ask, "So how did you two... [Come to be living together?] meet?"

Dil raced on ahead to match the turtle-man, and while he's curious too... well. Adults have their things, right? So he'll just let Ms. Mizuno answer that while he ransacks the cupboards for peanut butter. ...Well, the ones he can reach anyway. Where's a foot-stool?

"We sort of met over the journals." It was hard to explain beyond that. It was rash and even, well, thoughtless; but she hadn't liked the idea of a little boy alone, and Dil hadn't seemed to want to be alone. Then there was this house, so empty to be alone in.

"Ah! The footstool is over there." Ami being short herself, and some of the senshi even shorter, kept one.

"...Cool!" Weird. But not that weird. It's a generous thing to do, and Mike tries not to think about what he'd do if he hadn't had family here to take him in. And this house does echo weirdly now that no one is here but Ami.

"How many scoops, Dil? Five or six?" Mike has an interesting interpretation of a 'little'.

Oh, cool! He nods and gives a word of thanks to Ami before going to fetch that stool. He uses that to get up there and... bowls! HE takes a few down about the time that Mike speaks up again, causing him to turn to the turtle and-

"What, really?"

Five scoops? "Mike, don't you think that's a few too many?" Sorry, Dil. She's indulgent, but she's looking out for your health, too. And you promised it wouldn't spoil dinner.

"Oh, okay. Just three, then." To Dil: "What do you like on ice cream? Chocolate syrup, sprinkles, caramel?"
