's fine. [Edward shifts a bit awkwardly, glancing up at Alphonse briefly before looking back at Winry. He can't quite manage Al's optimism right now.] Can we do anything else...?

[As always, he just hates feeling so damn helpless. He doesn't know medical alchemy, he can't heal her, and until she's cleaned up they can't even fix up her wounds. And it's not like they can help her with a bath, either. So all they can do is wait? Again? Geez...]

Any time, Winry. [ don't you put up a brave front too, don't you think he hasn't noticed that. he glances at edward, giving a slight nod. he wishes that doctor marcoh was here... it'd be nice to have a doctor on hand for any emergency.

mei chang would also have been a godsend. ] We'll go get your pajamas ready.

Really? That would be great, and this is more than enough.

[Well... she is okay enough to walk home, so she's probably well enough to take care of herself in the bath. It's not like they can volunteer to help her, anyway.

Too bad Miss Gracia's asleep... damn. So it is back to waiting. Edward nods back at Al, grabbing his arm and nudging him towards the door as he turns away to leave.]

We'll wait for you outside.

[ brother our combined worrying may smother her. al nods and ducks through the door. out they go! door closing behind him!

[Sigh, indeed. The pajama-fetching mission was brief and feels kind of pointless now, since she's probably just going to her room anyway, but putting them back would just be admitting defeat. So Edward is sitting outside the backroom, looking irritated and worried at the same time, inwardly cursing a number of things, not the least of which are his own lack of abilities, the fact that they're even in this situation, and the goddamn rain and his goddamn automail and just. Goddamn everything. Even if there is no god.

When the door opens, Edward moves to stand up, but his vantage point on the floor makes her legs more noticeable than anything else, so he halts before he can rise, staring with gradually rising horror.

What the hell caused that? And how!? Wasn't she supposed to be safe!?]

[ it doesn't look that bad. ed's in his way so he doesn't see the wounds immediately - but when he does-

he can't stop staring. why-- why did she try to walk home if her leg was like that?! Why didn't she go to that makeshift clinic?!

There's a horrified gasp. ] Winry! [ why is she walking if it's like that!? ]

It looks worse than it is, I promise.

May I have my pajamas?

[Looks worse? How could it be better than how it looks? Because it looks pretty damned terrible. And when she's limping like that? There's no way he can stop fretting about it. And she shouldn't be walking on it, either...!]

Edward looks pretty cranky about the whole situation, and the only good it's doing is to fuel his determination to get them all out of this place as soon as possible. With a dark scowl and a muffled exhale he wordlessly offers out the pajamas.

What the hell good is he if he can't protect her here? This stupid war...]

but if you push yourself, you will be placed under guard... this makes him feel so helpless. watching someone so close suffer like this, to have to have been put through that. ]

If you really want to know, I was attacked by a shift hunter.

[Arrrrgh, why are you walking around so much when you're hurt? Edward hovers around nearby, feeling both awkward and concerned, waiting to see if he can be of any help. This would be so much better if he was more into medical alchemy, geez. Where's May when you need her?]

It's... it's like some kind of zombie dog. I was attacked because I was using filial magic to heal the more serious wounds on people.

[Zombie dog? Zombie dog? What is this place, the set of a horror movie now? And he thought chimeras were bad.]

I thought you were supposed to be out of danger! It was that dangerous even in the camps?
