Mention of a Christmas party had Ukyo's attention from the moment she'd heard about it. Mostly because she was interested in seeing how Western celebrations differed from those in Japan. Not certain if there would be Christmas cake or gifts, especially since it was so early, the only thing she knew to hold on to was the request that everyone come formally dressed. That in itself begged the question, formal by whose standards? Should she wear an American-style dress or a kimono? She finally settled on a formal gown (http://www.nexteve.com/shop/evening-dresses/JSH010.html) and even managed to talk Ryoga into coming with her.
Coming with her. But not as a date. Oh no. She was only leading him to the place because he would get lost otherwise. Really. That's all there was to her invitation. Just because they were coming together and he looked, well... really nice, didn't mean there was anything more to it. Did it? Hold it together, girl. There's nothing to this. Just going somewhere with a friend. It'll be fun. Don't over-think it.
The dances weren't familiar to her but the card games looked interesting. Not to mention the spread of food provided. Ukyo would spend a great deal of time sampling everything. It was her duty as a chef to at least try the foods, no matter how very foreign they seemed to her.
