[Asbel winces when he hears that crash. That sounds almost too painful, whatever it was. Stepping away from the pantry, he walks back towards the living room through the kitchen to see what the crash was.

...Until he sees Cheria on the ground. Then he's practically sprinting over to her.]

Cheria!

[Oh no, Asbel heard and now he's coming over! Cheria hastily attemps to hide the mistletoe in her hand by slipping it partly inside her sleeve.]

O-oh! Asbel! I'm fine! I was just... I just slipped. [She'll push herself back to her feet, now.]

[Not without him helping her to her feet of course.]

How did you manage that?

[A light blush appears on Cheria's cheeks as Asbel helps her up.]

The floor... must've been wet. From the snow outside. [Yes, this is plausible. Let's stick with this.]

[Well, that makes sense. He must have tracked some snow in from outside and didn't realize it... Now he feels indirectly responsible.]

Sorry... I should have checked.

[That is so not what Cheria intended.]

N-no, it's fine! I'll just clean it up in a moment! Don't worry about it.

[Asbel's eyes drift up from the imaginary puddle of water up to the doorway, where he notices something is missing.]

...What happened to the mistletoe?

[Oh. Uhoh. Cheria smiles nervously, then admits defeat and holds out a hand to show the mistletoe.]

It ah... It fell. Here it is.

[Taking the mistletoe in hand, he looks at it. What's so special about these things that people have to kiss under them...?]

Ah... Maybe we should put it back up, then?

Y-yes! ... Yes, that's a good idea.

[Then she can have another go at trying to corner Asbel under the thing. Though, he'll have to put it up himself, seeing as Cheria is too short to reach the top of the doorpost.]

Do you want to put it in the same place? [It seems like it might be better to put it somewhere less dangerous.]

... Anywhere is fine, really.

[As long as it's a location that Asbel will pass at some point, it's all fine.]

[Hmm... Let's put it... above the kitchen. It'll surely see use there!]

[Cheria will stand nearby and watch Asbel as he puts up the mistletoe again.]

[Okay, standing on the very tips of his toes and reaching up there aaaaaand... Placing the mistletoe up above the doorway to the kitchen.

...Which he is now standing under.]

[The moment Cheria realizes that Asbel is directly under the mistletoe, she carefully takes a step towards him. Just one. She can't make herself look too suspicious. Her gaze is still stuck on the mistletoe, as if she's examining it.]

[Asbel briefly wonders what Cheria's doing, until he follows her gaze upward. ...right towards the mistletoe.

They're under the mistletoe. This is what Cheria wanted, isn't it? No... they both want this. This is the moment Richard told him about.

If he's going to show Cheria that he does like her... now's the time to prove it. Mimicking Cheria's movements now, Asbel slowly takes a step towards her.]

[O-oh. Asbel is coming closer as well. Does he realize they're under the mistletoe, or is he just being his usual oblivious self? Honestly, she wouldn't be surprised.

Either way, she'll have to take another step, herself. She's still not making eye contact, but her hands fold together anxiously and a mild blush appears on her cheeks. She can do this... She can do this.]

[He... can do this. Right. He already did it once, during that fairy tale experiment!

...But that was an experiment. It was easy to do when he wasn't really in complete control. But, now... It was all on him. He had to make the right moves and say the right things...

Asbel takes another step forward. Slowly. Carefully...]

[Careful, now... She can't come on too strong, or she'll seem desperate. This has to be just right. Though, she still can't seem to get herself to look directly at Asbel.

Memories keep flashing through her mind. Memories of being kissed onstage, of getting married in Luceti... And of telling Asbel that the wedding wasn't real.

[Why won't she look at him? How are they even supposed to kiss if she won't look at him? Is she upset at him for something?

Just mere inches away from her face, almost close enough for them to touch now, he pauses now.]

...Is something wrong?

E-eh? [That remark finally causes her to look up, directly into Asbel's eyes, causing her blush to deepen even further. He's so close... When did he get so close?]

No, I was just... I...

Ah...

[He draws back a little, a blush forming on his face as he goes to nervously rub the back of his head.]

...If you don't want to do this... I'll understand, Cheria. [There's some regret, some disappointment in his voice as he says that.]

[Oh no, he's pulling away! No no no, that's bad! Cheria leans forward lightly to match.]

N-no, I do! I mean... It's the rules, so...

[Do you really want to break the mistletoe rules, Asbel? Do you?]

[She wants to do it because of the rules? That's... somewhat disappointing to hear for Asbel, but she's right... It's the rules, and he doesn't really want to break them. He doesn't even know what might happen if he breaks the rules.]
