In some countries in my world it is still seen as such. An illness, a perversion, though it is nothing of the sort. It's a built in population control. It's not unnatural, it's not immoral. Many other mammals display homosexual behavior, so it is entirely natural. If you've more older brothers, you are more likely to be homosexually inclined because of your mother's biology- it happens for a reason based in science as much as it does psychology.

I had to do several presentations on this subject in sensitivity training for my peers when they mistreated a few patients due to their orientation. After the training I saw them fired when they displayed that kind of bigotry and ignorance a second time.
