"Nobody is quite certain where the monsters began, or why they have chosen to attack. It is up to you, as a hero of Luceti, to defend the village. I can help you unleash your inner talents and guide you through the world of Luceti, if you wish."

Ben. You are- this is not you. Well. [A beat.] It is you, but not how you normally should be. This is you boiled down into some strange mockery of you. The point I wish to make is that this is not how you should be.

[She needs to find out what it is in what she says that pulls the apparently scripted speech from him.]

"I can teach you to use the your basic combat abilities, train you in the special abilities relevant to your class, or provide guidance to the world of Luceti."

[And with that exact same blank smile and that exact same inflection]

"Did you have any other questions about Luceti?"

[The smile and inflection were starting to become disconcerting. On several levels.]

How would I know my class, so I might train?

"I can see that you are designated a-"

[He frowns.]

"My apologies. I cannot seem to determine your designation."

Because I have not been shifted along with the rest of the village.

[She sighs.]

Ben; are you in there? Behind the prewritten and poorly acted lines and disturbing smile?

"I'm sorry, I'm afraid I'm not certain how that relates to our current conversation."

[She turns to take a step to pace, and thinks better of it. If she leaves, she might have to start all over. Swearing, she turns back, hands shoved in her hair, combing thorugh it.]

"The designations for adventurer skillsets are as follows: Knight, Monk, Thief, Ranger, Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mage, Beastmaster, Bard or Dancer, Fool. Would you like to hear more about any of these designations?"

[Wait. Wait wait wait. Those were. Classes. She remembers something about them from watching the D&D Game weeks ago.]

"Games can be played at the Good Spirits tavern. Challenge your fellow adventurers or the denizens of the bar, for fun or for money. Just remember not to gamble too much money away."

Wait- just. Wait. [She holds up a hand.] What can you tell me about yourself.

"My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. A Master on the Jedi Council, I was taken from my world following the destruction of my order at the hands of my rogue former student, and I sent here to Luceti to teach a new generation of adventurers how to fight evil."

[Blank smile]

"Did you have any other questions about Luceti?"

[Not a hint of guilt. Or any other emotion. On the one hand, yes, she wanted him to feel less guilty about what happened. On the other. This was not the way.]

[That was bizarre. And not the point to what she'd said whatsoever.]

[She has to take a deep breath. Calm herself.]

Think of Anakin. You cannot just say things like that so flippantly.

[She lifts a hand to strike him again, thinks better of it, and swears.]
