What: a slightly belated surprise birthday party

Summary: For the first time in long, long while, Kaori is going to be celebrating her birthday- at least if Frey can help it.
Rating: P for party.

[It had taken some doing, but things were finally in place for the party, although it was two days later then planned due to recent happenings. Frey had taken the initiative to send Kaori and Lym to visit Masaomi, using the excuse of asking them to check up on him after his injury and perhaps invite him to lunch to get things ready in their absence. When they returned, that was when the party would begin.

With the help of the people in house 11, everything had turned out fairly well- food was set out on a long table against a wall in the foyer, and decorations had been put up. Frey had taken the liberity to make two cakes- mostly because he knew his housemates, and he knew one wouldn't really last, but also because he had wanted to try something different with the second one.]

[So guess who wasn't around to help set this shindig up and didn't show up until after the birthday girl already arrived? This kid. Because if Freyjadour thought Mithos would spend a single second around humans when Kaori wasn't even there, he's crazier than he is. He's standing off to the side - way off to the side - and his discomfort is engraved into his stiff posture. He hasn't had a chance to talk to Kaori because eww gross humans everywhere and he's definitely wondering if this was a mistake.

Twenty, thirty minutes later, he's had about as much as he can stand. Quietly - far from typical drama queen fashion - he slips outside to just cool down by himself in the garden, hoping that Kaori will notice and follow eventually.]

DIVERSION! Sort of

[Lym wasn't sure why she was being asked to go to talk to Masaomi, he was kind of a pervert, but she was to go with Kaori, and this seemed like a good opportunity to learn more about her brother's girlfriend, or at least what she SUSPECTED was his girlfriend given the closeness. Either way she waited outside for Kaori rocking back and forth on her heels.]

DIVERSION!

[Kaori herself isn't sure why she had been asked to accompany Lym, though if it meant she could get to see Masaomi that much sooner then that was okay with her, as long as she got around to making sure he was okay after being abruptly called to that mission.

It takes only a few moments of Lym waiting for her to show up, the expression on her face mostly unreadable while she nodded in the younger's general direction.] Are you ready?

I'm ready. We're going to the hospital to see your friend, right?

Yeah, that was the idea of it. [And she's still questioning why Lym is even coming along as she takes the first few steps forward.]

Do you even know who he is?

[Selphie loves a good party but she wasn't involved in the planning of this one at all so she isn't entirely certain what to expect. It's exciting though as she comes back from the plaza with a medium sized box wrapped in blue paper with a series of red stars drawn onto it. To be honest, she wasn't entirely certain what to get Kaori for her birthday but it was still important for the perky brunette to get the blind girl something special. Her past birthdays had been spent in captivity and she understood Frey's desire to make this one memorable.

When Selphie arrives back at the house, she makes her way to the kitchen and places her gift on the table. She'll definitely help out with the party.]

Is there anything I can do to help?

[Silver is significantly more aware and not beat up and exhausted today, which is excellent because it means that he can actually be (mostly) coherent and in a proper mood for a birthday party.

He's taking to wallflowering a little, though. Wallflowering is always a safe option.]

[She nods]

I've met him. He tried to convince me he was a ghost when I first got here.

[She sweat drops slightly, still not entirely sure why she was asked but having her suspicions.]

[Aaaand Yellow's here, of course! So yeah. She's standing around. And stuff. With Chuchu by her side hi. totally forgot about blindness shhhsh]

[Join the wallflower club, Silver. --Wait, no, don't. This is a solitary activity, so don't even think about circulating around the room to approach Mithos as he sticks by his own stretch of wall, looking miles outside of his comfort zone.]

[tsuntrader]

[Oh, he won't.

...Not intentionally, anyway. Sooner or later he'll slide around the room enough to not only reach Mithos, but to nearly bump into him. Uh. Whoops.

...Weren't you on the other side of the room?]

[imatreenow]

[He takes a subtle step back, not sure if he should glare at him or ignore him completely - he ends up with the former, but its edges are worn down, uncertain. The last few times they spoke? Not him - someone who looks like him and is a little similar but couldn't be more different. Those kinds of mind games always leave a bitter taste in his mouth. Dealing with people afterward is always worse than usual.

So you should take this as a hint to leave him alone.]

[tsuntrader]

[It's tempting. It's really truly tempting to just say nothing.

...Yeah, you know what? He can deal with awkwardly wallflowering with Mithos in silence for once.]

[...Then he'll edge away some more, shoulders stiff and hands clasped in front of him tightly enough for the knuckles to start turning white. He doesn't want to be the first to speak - that might encourage Silver - but the urge to tell him to go the hell away is rising quickly inside him.]

A ghost? [Kaori knows that Masaomi can be one for a dramatic flair, but why a ghost?]

Is that all he did, or was he just trying to scare you?

[chibifalenas]

I think he was having fun with me because I didn't know the journal could transmit voices.

[seiriald]

That wasn't very nice of him. [Funny still, but not the nicest thing.] You didn't actually believe him, did you?

[chibifalenas]

No, not really. I'd think ghosts had better things to do than try to confuse all ready confused people.

[seiriald]

But some people like to confuse the confused people even more because they like to see them confused so they could be all the more confused later and wake up the next day still confused.

[chibifalenas]

That's... Kind of a confusing thought.

[seiriald]

It really is, isn't it? So it's probably better to try not to think too hard on it. [Even if she's being rather nonchalant about it, to the point that she's starting to hum softly to herself.]

[chibifalenas]

I uh, guess?

[She just looks confused]

[seiriald]

[And she can definitely sense that confusion, to the point that now she's feeling a little guilty about it.]

Sorry, I didn't help much did I?

Oh, I uh, guess not. Its not that important really. Just get headaches about this place sometimes, but I guess um, given how close you and brother are I should get used to it, huh?

[She smiles a bit and nods]
