markofthewise: (So determined)

[Sokka had been on a mission for awhile now, after losing Suki to the randomness of returning home. When he arrived on the mission, the torrential rain nearly made him sick. He didn't know it, but he'd been ten miles northwest of where the hotel had been flooded. Though he was thrust into a skirmish with a group of cultists, he was not part of the massive battle going on with the Security Forces and the cultists to to the east. When the battle had finally died down, they were left hunting cultists down.

On the fourth day, while tracking down a small group of cultists, they were ambushed. Though they fought them off and were victorious, Sokka took the worst of it when he pushed one of his teammates out of the way of a pouncing Shift Hunter. It took a bite out of his side before his team mates beheaded the creature, forcefully prying its jaw from his side. He didn't want to admit it, but it was his closest brush with death he'd ever experienced.

Miles away from a spot to rendezvous with the Malnosso, he was given patchwork bandaging and they took it slow for his sake. Though their first aid was not lacking and he was given ample painkillers, there was no magical healers among the group. Just a military nurse who redressed his wound every evening. When they finally reached a point where he could be returned, he was transferred to a medical ward and told he would be there until an upcoming draft. By now, he'd read over the draft details a dozen times while waiting in that bed.

And now he was on the ship. His side may have healed up a bit thanks to the stitchwork, it couldn't take much action without tearing up. Which is why he was looking for someone, anyone to patch him up. Make it so he could fight. And selfishly, he was hoping to find someone other than his sister. He didn't want her to see him like this. In fact, it would be better if it was someone he didn't know. (This part reserved for Yellow)

After being healed, Sokka felt more like himself. Which meant he needed to find his friends. In a big ship like this, it was easy to get lost and he found himself wandering around quite a bit before making it to crew quarters. Later on, he can be seen in the galley eating a meal while feeling very awkward in his dark blue space suit. He's. Not thrilled about it.

He spends about an hour in the simulators before deciding that increasing his survival rate to 'thirty minutes' is not nearly safe enough for his liking. So he spends some times checking out the armory of weapons before settling on a laser pistol, to take with him on top of his usual arsenal of his sword and some explosive projectiles. He knows all too well Boomerang won't work in space, so that's getting left behind in his room.]
