[Luke hefts his staff, the black iron catching in the morning sunlight]

They wouldn't stand down. So I asked them to leave. Politely.

[Luke taps his forehead, indicating that he'd left them the psychic suggestion to just...leave.]

Told them this wasn't the farm they were looking for.

[There was a moment of stunned silence before Lupin started laughing. It was little more than a stifled giggle, but the tension in his shoulders lessened with it.]

That's the only reason why it's a purple-orange phoenix coming to join the defense instead of a girl. She'll do a couple passes of the farmlands, looking for the source of the disturbance.]

[Lupin's patience was as shot as his stamina, but he was trying to keep it together. A slug was shot off into the air, followed by another. The same clipped tone that he used in the initial broadcast rang out over the boisterous voices of the refugees he was trying--and failing--to contain.]

--Your threats aren't going to make the crops grow any faster. There's nothing we can do for you here right now, nothing that we can do without time. Mucking around in the fields is only going to make it take longer, and it will ruin the little progress that we have made. So shape up, or get out.

[Steve followed Lupin's voice through the growing crowd of refugees, using his shield as a buffer to push past the people. When he gets close enough to speak to him without having to yell, he pulls his mask off and lets it hang behind him like a hood.]

What are we looking at here? Have any refugees been successful in reaching the crops?

Yea. They seem to really want to get at Hamal. I'm just worried they're gonna trample the crops. There's still plenty of growing season left. its only been a few days.

[He shakes his head as his senses warn him of an approaching wannabe thief]

[He hadn't seen Steve done up like the American flag before, but he didn't comment. Later--always later. Lupin squeezed the bridge of his nose in frustration.]

A dozen. More. They're all agitated. I haven't been able to get into the field to look at the crops yet--Hamal-chan has been my bigger concern. His species is used as a food source on his homeworld, but we want him here for different reasons.

[Steve may find Luke standing along the edge of the farm, attempting to convey orders to leave to several men wearing white armor that Steve may be familiar with if he'd seen the films Luke had lent him. The Jedi is holding a black metal staff, and appears to be attempting to engage the men in somewhat congenial conversation...and its not going well...]

[Lupin whipped out his gun again, mentally kicking himself for even thinking for a moment that he would have a chance to relax. He kept his jaw tight, lest he say something that would ruin whatever it was that Luke was attempting, but he was willing to shoot for more than just disabling if it became necessary.]

[She drops to the ground, and elbows her way over, already expecting Lupin to give her cover as needed.]

Where is he now? He'll need to be moved to a safer place if things get ugly. Unless you think he'd be helpful if it comes to a fight.

[Steve did watch the movies and he knows exactly what the men were. He approaches cautiously, watching the men for signs that they might be preparing to get violent. Whatever Luke is saying to them, it's not helping the situation though.]

Luke...? [He waits for the man to meet his eyes and gives him a tiny nod. He's willing to follow the other man's lead.]

I haven't been able to keep proper tabs yet, but there's at least a few dozen agitated people out here. They're looking for food, and might go after the fruit trees.

If they trample the fields, we won't have our pumpkins for the fall. And, [He glanced over his shoulder,] I don't want them to get to Hamal-chan here.

He's in his pen that's not far from where I had my table the other day, but we have no other place to really put him. he's nine feet tall right now, and probably close to a ton in mass.

...I'm not as well versed on banthas as I would like, but we can guess a few things. He's got those horns, and is very strong.

We just don't want to see him hurt.

[10% of his smoke running means he'll be worn out by the time he gets there, so Smoker doesn't even bother with any of his devil fruit attacks, just straight out smacks things with his jitte. He's actually quite a bit out of breath, just pausing to catch up. At least he got here relatively quickly.]

The grocery store won't let anyone starve, and the energy you used to get out here probably cost more than you could have gotten from sprouts. [Growl growl, he's annoyed.]

Alright, we can have some people surround his pen, then. As many as we can without leaving the crops unprotected. It seems to me that's what these people really want anyways.

Sounds like a good idea, but we don't have too many to spare. We're a little isolated out here, so any hands we have protecting our resources should be divided evenly around.
