What: Marco's surprise birthday party.
When: October 6th, in the afternoon.
Where: Community Housing 3, Room 40
Summary: It's Marco's birthday. Ace planned a party. Need I say more?
Rating: Uh, PG? Since there will be pirates here, I'm hoping not to go above PG-13. PLAY NICE, KIDS.
[Ace wasn't going to go overboard on the decorating. In fact, he had to leave a lot of it up to everyone else since his injuries prevent quite a bit of movement. But soon enough, there were a decent amount of streamers up, and a nice big banner that says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCO". He had to work extra hard to get the cake to look just right. The cake is surrounded by the presents, and there's a few separate tables for food and drinks. Fruit punch for everyone, and some alcohol for the adults and pirates.

Come on, people, this is a party. Let's live it up a little! And don't forget to embarrass congratulate the birthday pirate. Feel free to leave your own comment below, just for mingling, or just doing something silly, or giving Marco your present! Have at!]

[Given Marco's a bird, he must like fish, right?

...So Rin showed up and brought some grilled grouper. Spiced, flavored - it's actually excellent if you ignore the fact that grilled grouper is totally not a finger food. But he also brought plastic plates and forks as well as a rice cooker filled with, well, rice. So that's not bad, all things considered.

And as a result, at the party - though he feels a bit out of place - he's looking smug]

[Marco does indeed like fish. And upon seeing Rin, he quickly switches out of human form to phoenix.]

Rin, you came! Thanks matey! [Giant grin and a few sparkles. He's just downright giddy now.]

[Man has he ever even seen this guy in human form...

Oh well.] 'Course I did! I mean, I know you and all. [He grins, even going to pull his arms around the bird neck]

[Once. Marco finds Rin easier to deal with as a phoenix. He doesn't even remember why anymore, he's just starting to find it kind of too hilarious to stop. He wants to only switch when it will have maximum shock impact on Rin (if that's even possible.)]

[And o-oh. A hug. How forward. Slightly birdie blush, but no he is like WAY too manly to blush about this. He also knows NOTHING about Ace telling everyone to give Marco hugs for his birthday or he'd be kicking Ace's ass again. Even if Ace is secretly right that Marco appreciates hugs. Manliest pirate ever here. Like totally.]

Well, I'm glad you did, eh? Want some cake? [Grin grin.]

Oh, uh, sure! [It'll be weird to have a cake he didn't make, actually, but he might as well. He puts on a big grin, a bit eager to see more and... glad. That Marco appreciates his coming]

[Grabs a quick plate for Rin. Hope you like pirate flag cake! And somehow he even manages to pass it over using his wing. Talented. Also, cheating. But hey, he's a pirate. Cheating is just part of the deal.]

Here you go! So how's your day been?

Well... [Not terrible? That sounds lame. He shrug. He only got back like two weeks ago] Pretty alright.

One of those months or two, eh?

Yeah. [...And because him and Marco talked about stuff like this before, while he's wondering if Marco's got cutting the cake or if he should do it-] I went home and back, and when I got back, my brother wasn't here anymore.

[Fortunately, Marco's got it. His wings are sneaky, primarily because he can change just exactly how much he wants back to human, so he gives himself enough grip with the feathers, playing more than anyone should be allowed to with the bone structure, and then back to normal, balancing the plate of cake carefully on a wing, and hands Rin a fork to go with it.]

Damn... seriously? Sorry matey.

I feel like I should give you mine or something. Not that you'd want him. [Annnnd that would be Marco's usual joking deflection. He does look pretty sorry though. Norma & Robin being kidnapped only had the silver lining in that they didn't go home, unlike Ange's family. And it all reminds him exactly how tenuous people staying here really is.]

Will you see your brother when you go back home?

'Course I will. He's my brother. [And she's surprised at the wing dexterity there. Seriously? Seriously... And he takes the plat and fork to begin poking it]

That's something at least. Not everyone here has that to go back to, eh?

Hopefully he's happier back home then, but I can see why it's been a rough month.

He's goin' back to being some hotshot exorcist, so yeah, probably...

[That said, he's got that whole Don't Accept thing going on...]

[A small headtilt, trying to gauge Rin's perspective a little better.]

Well yeah, he's good! He's out teacher, after all! [Maybe he's jealous. And he definitely has to catch up]

[Brotherly jealous Marco gets more than he lets on man.]

How old? We're twins, dude.

[Didn't he make that clear? No he didn't, he never does. Either way, he puffs out his chest, proudly] But I'm the older one.

I see. So how's he your teacher then? Super genius?

Yeah, he's some nerdy four-eyes. [Huff huff. ...cake eating] And he's been at it longer.

[Damned cute. All the kiddies are adorable and he can't take it.]

You must be very proud of him then.

I can't imagine teaching my brothers though. That's one of the reasons I won't spar most of them, eh? [Because either he'd have to hold back and that would hurt their pride and not be as interesting for him, or he'd crush them silly and that's no fun either.] Do you have other teachers too?

Of course I do. He can't teach all the classes at the cram school.

Which class does he teach?

Demon Pharmaceuticals. Like plants and drugs and doctor-y stuff too, except demon or magic ones.

And your specialty is more fighting, right?

Ossu. I'm working to become a Knight. We're both exorcists, it's just sort of how you handle it - Meisters and stuff.
