[ akletlkajtsr the pop and poof came while Nojiko was restocking the display cases, and she nearly hits her head jerking to check what's up.

This game is going to break her nerves, seriously. Still, to someone used to fishmen and the like, Kurt's appearance doesn't startle her so much as, you know. The method. She lets out a reluctant chuckle. ]

Dodgeball refugee? [ She'll go back to her restocking, carefully not looking at him, so as to, you know. Hide him. ]

You could say that. Trying hard not to become a prisoner of war! I guess for the moment, I am a marooned pirate.

[ She's. Maybe laughing into her hand. Man, people are taking this game seriously.

She'll retrieve a cupcake, though, and offer it down to him. ]

Need any rations? [ Dry amusement. ]

[The cupcake takes Kurt by surprise. It's the small acts of kindness that get to Kurt, especially when he's in his natural form. But he reaches out a hand to accept it with a joking smile.]

In times like this, you take what you can get! I really appreciate it. But if anyone asks, I'd prefer you to tell them I plundered this pastry. It'll help me to look more like a fearsome pirate, y'know?

Absolutely. Maybe if you're lucky you'll get a bounty: pasty thief at large.

[ She goes back to restocking the display case, but still seems pretty entertained. As long as Kurt isn't actively ruining things behind the counter she's chill with offering him "shelter". ]

Any idea which side is winning?

I could only wish to be that notorious.

[And he kind of lounges there against the back of the counter. Might as well make himself comfortable.]

It's hard to say. It seems like a different side is winning in different parts of the village. But right outside? I think it's fair to say the ninjas are in the lead.

Ah, it's not like the colours are different, anyway. [ Might be easier to tell. But as far as Nojiko can see, there's just a rainbow of weaponry out there.

She's been hiding in here ever since it started, yep. ]

Really? Rest up, then. You can't let that stand. My sister's a pirate, you know.

She is? You mean... outside of the game?

Exactly. The place I come from is in the middle of a pirate era, haha.

I take it there aren't a lot of pirates in your home?

Not in my day. At least not in the sense of swashbucklers who sail the seven seas for treasure.

But in another sense...?

Yeah, it's used for much more mundane criminals. People who spread things sold by companies, sometimes for free, and in my day they use the internet for it.

Yeah. Or maybe I'm from the future? [His tone becomes more and more joking as he goes on.] With hair that blue, maybe you're my great great grandma!

[ Although this clearly isn't a thing that's true, Nojiko doesn't seem offended by it; more amused. ]
