Summary: It's Thanksgiving. There's a meal and socializing. Also fun.
Rating: PG, PG-13 max? A kid got invited to this.
Considering how last minute all of this had been, Pepper was actually pretty satisfied with how things were turning out. Rogue had shown up early with helpers in tow, immediately setting to work in the kitchen. The house had been filled with delicious aromas shortly thereafter, and Pepper busied herself with the other details until guests started to arrive--at which point part of her job became keeping people out of the kitchen, per Rogue's orders.

The set up was straightforward: the dining room table was used to hold the assorted dishes, where people could fix themselves plates. A similar set up with drinks (although please, don't give alcohol to the children). Chairs set out for people to sit, since there were too many to even attempt a traditional sit down dinner. But that was fine by Pepper, who made her way through the group, making sure everyone was happy, or at least not destroying part of her house.

Better safe than sorry, with this crowd.

"Henry! You made it." Pepper's smile is bright as she greets the boy, holding the door open for him to come in. She doesn't skip a beat when she sees the pie he's carrying, although she knows there are already several more. "Come in. Let me show you where to put that."

"Hi, Pepper! Thanks again for inviting me." He follows along, allowing her to guide him where to put said pie. "It's pumpkin, I hope that's okay...I also got it from the bakery. That's okay too, right?"

There's a designated place for desserts, with the promised labels--including one for where the apple pie will go when it's ready. "Of course, on both counts. Thank you for bringing it."

It only takes her a second to write out another label; there's already two for pumpkin pie, but hey. At least they won't run out.

"Did you find the house okay?"

"Yeah it was hard to miss." After all, he had seen a slew of people wander on inside, plus he had the right address. But in any case Henry's looking around curiously. He was beginning to recognize a handful of people in the crowd, if only due to comic knowledge.

"You know everyone here?" He had to say that was pretty cool.

Pepper takes a look around, getting a quick inventory of faces in the crowd. "Most everyone. There's one or two guests people invited that I don't recognize, but if you're trying to put names and faces together, I can probably help you out."

Although he may recognize a few of them on his own, considering that he knew who Steve was.

Well that was enough for him. He actually had a few questions than about the party goers. "So, than are all the Avengers here?" Because he totally doesn't look anticipated to meet the rest of them. Nope.

Pepper's dealt with a few fanboys in her time; she recognizes the look. "Well, in Luceti there's quite a few." She started to point out the ones that were there as she named them. "There's Hawkeye and Black Widow--and Iron Man, but this is his house, so it only makes sense for him to be here."

When he watched her point out the people, his eyes widened a bit when she had pointed at Natasha. How did he not get that? After all, with Pepper pointing out Hawkeye it all made it pretty clear from when he first met her and what he thought she did. "I've met Natasha actually and the same with Tony. He was the one told me about the apartments."

“Oh, was he now?” The one who had told Henry that he could live on his own. Pepper shook her head slightly, although she had to admit, there were limited solutions available for children without parents or friends around. They had no orphanage, and no foster system. It was something to bring up at the Welcome Center.

But Pepper kept those thoughts to herself. “So you know about the Avengers. What about the X-men?”

"Yeah, he was. He told me to live by super heroes." He had to quickly get that last part out, if only because he was beginning to notice Pepper not looking too pleased on that. From Henry's point of view he could only guess that she knew him.

He nodded a little bit to her next question though. "Yeah, I do. Are they here too?"

Well. That had been the first thing Pepper had thought of when Henry told her where he was living. Maybe not superheroes specifically, but the simple truth was that most people she knew in Luceti qualified, including Steve. So Pepper relaxed a little. “That wasn’t bad advice, I guess.”

She nodded, then pointed out the ones in sight. “Logan and Ororo. And Rogue is in the kitchen; she’s the one who did a lot of the cooking today.”

He probably just helped Tony avoid the doghouse...if unknowingly. But in any case he'll continue to watch Pepper point out even more of said superheroes. Oh wow, Wolverine! He had read a comic with him fighting the hulk...it probably didn't end well for Logan.

"She did?" He didn't really think Rogue could cook. Or at the very least he got the impression she didn't like being around people. "Rogue actually helped me when I first got here."

“She did.” Pepper confirmed it with a nod. “So make sure you tell her thank you when you see her.”

She could understand the uncertainty though. Rogue was a difficult person to get to know, and although Pepper knew she had very good reasons for it, it still frustrated her a little. Still, the woman had a good heart, and she wasn’t surprised to hear the Rogue had helped Henry. “Did she?”

"I will, don't worry."

If it was the one thing Henry knew, it was to thank people when they helped him. "But she did. I was kind of surprised. She seemed a bit worried about helping me actually. I think."

Pepper nods slightly, knowing that Rogue had her reasons for that concern. But despite her powers or whatever other doubts she had, Rogue still reached out to others. She’d done that for Pepper in the hospital, and for Tony who knew how many times.

And now for Henry. “Well, the important thing is that she did help, even if she was worried.”
