Summary: It's Thanksgiving. There's a meal and socializing. Also fun.
Rating: PG, PG-13 max? A kid got invited to this.
Considering how last minute all of this had been, Pepper was actually pretty satisfied with how things were turning out. Rogue had shown up early with helpers in tow, immediately setting to work in the kitchen. The house had been filled with delicious aromas shortly thereafter, and Pepper busied herself with the other details until guests started to arrive--at which point part of her job became keeping people out of the kitchen, per Rogue's orders.

The set up was straightforward: the dining room table was used to hold the assorted dishes, where people could fix themselves plates. A similar set up with drinks (although please, don't give alcohol to the children). Chairs set out for people to sit, since there were too many to even attempt a traditional sit down dinner. But that was fine by Pepper, who made her way through the group, making sure everyone was happy, or at least not destroying part of her house.

Better safe than sorry, with this crowd.

He sheepishly holds the roll's remains over to the side. There is definitely no need to inspire the wrath of the Bringer of Turkey. "Butternut squash and string beans, you say?"

"Might as well get some more crescent rolls while you're at it. And some brown sugar." She paused a moment to assess Kurt. "Do you need me ta write it down?"

A blank stare and a blink. "Maybe." And then he smirks. "After all, I'm sure you'll think of another five things by the time you write those down."

"Keep it up, wise guy," Rogue grumbled as she went to retrieve a piece of paper and a pen. "I'm sure you'd love ta be the person who volunteers ta eat last."

"Hey, hey, I'm just saying! Don't starve the delivery boy."

[touchofrogue]

"Nothin' wrong with goin' last if there's plenty of food," Rogue said. "'course, that means you'd better help me make sure there's enough food for everyone, hadn't ya?" She glanced over at him, "Which means makin' sure that the food made lasts until people get here."

He waved his hands defensively. "Oh come on! A roll here and there isn't that big a casualty."

[touchofrogue]

Rogue glared at him over the list, "Kurt, I will stuff you an' put you in this turkey, is that what you want?"

Instant deflation.

"No ma'am."

[touchofrogue]

"That's better," she finished writing down the list and walked over to hand it to him. "Here. You get 'em back in fifteen minutes an' I'll consider the roll worked off."

He takes the list with a smile. "If that's all it takes to be redeemed, consider it done!" Kurt turns to start leaving, but he soon turns to face her again. "I gotta say. All of this is... kinda surprising."

[touchofrogue]

Eyebrow quirk of inquiry. Watch your step, because you are still here.

"It's just... You never seemed to be this much Miss Thanksgiving before, y'know?" After a slight pause, he added, "Not that it's a bad thing. At all."

She just gave him a look. "It's a different story when you're the only one around who can cook."

Her internal countdown from the moment he paused is down to six...five...

He gave a thoughtful nod as he started backing away, as if sensing the countdown. "That makes sense, yeah." He held the list tightly in his hand, ready to bamf off at any second - and he'll definitely be gone whenever something is being launched at him. "Have an early thanks for now."

Rogue sighed and shook her head and got back to work.
