Summary: It's Thanksgiving. There's a meal and socializing. Also fun.
Rating: PG, PG-13 max? A kid got invited to this.
Considering how last minute all of this had been, Pepper was actually pretty satisfied with how things were turning out. Rogue had shown up early with helpers in tow, immediately setting to work in the kitchen. The house had been filled with delicious aromas shortly thereafter, and Pepper busied herself with the other details until guests started to arrive--at which point part of her job became keeping people out of the kitchen, per Rogue's orders.

The set up was straightforward: the dining room table was used to hold the assorted dishes, where people could fix themselves plates. A similar set up with drinks (although please, don't give alcohol to the children). Chairs set out for people to sit, since there were too many to even attempt a traditional sit down dinner. But that was fine by Pepper, who made her way through the group, making sure everyone was happy, or at least not destroying part of her house.

Better safe than sorry, with this crowd.

Of course, things like this aren't too unusual for this particular teenager, at least, so he takes her hand when it's offered to him and smiles.

"I don't stand out too much, do I?" He asks with a smirk, so odds are that he's not too terribly concerned about it. He'd kind of figured from the start that most of the people here would already know each other. "Jason. Nice to meetcha, Jane."

"Not too bad." Grinning. She's noticing he seems more or less in his element here - which is somewhat unusual for someone his age. Kinda interesting.

"Nice to meet you too, Jason. So who do you know, here?"

"Oh, that's a relief! I was almost a little worried. I always feel so out of place at these things." He can't help continuing to joke, although it's probably more amusing for himself than Jane. After all, if there's anyone who stands out here, it's probably Robin, the one he came here with. While Jason opted to just be himself, Dick still insisted on hiding his face. Weirdo.

"Uh, just a few people." He looks around for a moment, checking to see if there are any other familiar faces around that he might've missed. "I know Robin, Billy, and Ms. Munroe. I met Rogue and Ms. Potts earlier."

She pauses, then laughs abruptly, unable to help herself. She murmurs, partially to herself, though in no way trying to hide the comment from Jason, "What is it with me and smartass teenagers?"

Comment aside, she's obviously not bothered by it. "Aaaand here's me not being surprised you're friends with Billy. Honestly, I can see why." Her smile quirks at the corners. "Though, actually, you've got one up on me. Besides him, the only other person I know on your list is Pepper."

You know what? He likes this lady. She seems pretty good-humored, especially if she can laugh about something like that. He knows, after all, that dealing with smartass teenagers is sometimes an acquired taste.

"Lucky you, right? Maybe we just know. Smartass teenager senses or something." And since she's so good-humored about it, Jason doesn't mind 'bragging' about this. "Sounds like Billy knows just about everyone. But I guess I don't feel so bad about not knowing everyone here now."

While she was not a snarky teenager herself, she's become somewhat accustomed to hanging around them, thanks to Luceti. Besides, that sort of sense of humor doesn't really bother her - obviously. She's grown rather fluent in smartass.

The corner of her mouth curls to one side, giving her smile a somewhat fondly exasperated quality. Oh, now he's milking it for all he's worth. Typical. "It's like someone put a sign on my back. Smartass teenagers, line up here! Free pass on sarcastic remarks." She flashes him a grin on that one. "And yeah, I think he does. Anyway -- definitely don't. Awkward mingling with acquaintances you only vaguely recall is not just the domain of the teenager. Or college kid." Her smile becomes knowing.
