Back to school!
Who: Teachers, students, anyone dropping in for the open classes, gatecrashers, etc.
What: First week of school, post-winter break
When: January 7th-10th
Where: The school
Summary: The new year has begun, so school must follow! Raine gets back to teaching, the school gains another professor, and students learn things.Or else.
Rating: A+
[It's the week of January 7th, and that means winter break is over and school is back in session! Students will notice a couple of staff-related changes upon their return: first, that Raine is back to teaching after being absent and bedridden since late November; and second, that there's a new teacher in class who wears a top hat and introduces himself as Hershel Layton.
In addition, the end of winter break means three articles of schoolwork are due in their respective classes:
1) a take-home math test;
2) an essay on what students learned about cultural winter traditions over the break;
3) a short scientific paper on the formation of snow crystals.
Otherwise, school life goes on according to the usual schedule with the usual roster. Students can chat as they come into class or use the playground during lunch. Passing notes, sleeping, and eating in class are all prohibited, of course, but when has that ever stopped students from trying?
Classes this week will start off relaxed as they ease back into the school rhythm, and Raine steps back for the first few days to let Layton settle into teaching. His calm but well-paced lecture style isn't a huge departure from Raine's, but the smile common on his face throughout lessons might lend him a different air.]
(( Of course, feel free to request or set up any threads you want in addition to the catch-all threads below! What's here is only a guideline and far from the only interaction that can take place. ))

[Writing]
It's a mystery how much weight the peer-given grades will actually have, but do you really want to risk failing your classmate's paper with a joke F...?]
(( P.S.: You might want to briefly summarize your character's paper to give graders something to work with! ))

[Magic]
Later in the week, when the weather is nicer, magic class will have some demonstrations done outdoors, for both students to show off what they've learned from the spirits, or for them to demonstrate some magic they have from home.
Discussion will then take place on what makes the abilities unique between worlds. Not everyone has to participate (she'll take volunteers only for demonstrations, but there will only be about five or six per class so as not to use up all the class time.) ]

[Any Day]
She'll be free for nice casual chats in between classes or during lunch, and have her journal in case anyone happens to want her attention. With more help around it gives her the time to do so, and it's not like anyone wants to risk her working too hard.
All of the students would have received brownies from her over the break if she knew where they lived and was able to have them delivered; if she didn't, there will be some more for them to collect during the lunch period! Those familiar with her usual treats during the year might notice that the food is lacking it's usual 'creative' spins of how Raine might have made them. Whether that's improvement or not, only the tastebuds can tell. But at the very least, they'll be relatively normal brownies.
If there are any new students who happen to wander in, she'll help get them set up with their entrance tests in another classroom before letting them join the others.]

10th - Lunchtime - Does this count as a gatecrasher...?
[Which is why it's pretty weird that Ion has apparently decided today would be a lovely day to be laying out in the middle of the playground without a coat on!]
[Of course, anyone who's asked why he hasn't been in class so far this week probably knows by now that he's been kidnapped since last Saturday. So laying outside like this probably wasn't his idea.]
