For the first time a in a while, a New Feather Party is taking place! Everyone has been working hard, making sure that everything is ready for the big day. The school cafeteria is decorated with streamers, some spring flowers and a hand-painted Welcome banner, placed right where everyone can see it. Most of the foods are simple party snacks: cakes, cookies, sandwiches and the like. However, Rin has hauled over a grill and is providing some cooked foods.

The most important part is the booths. The various organizations in Luceti have been invited to set up booths and tables in order to recruit new members and to inform the new feathers of their existence. There's even a general information booth, run by Marita Covarrubias, so New Feathers can ask any questions they have about Luceti. After all, when adjusting to a new place, information about your surroundings is the most important thing!

Near the end of the party, once it's a little darker out, there's even a small fireworks show. It's a nice way a party. After all, who doesn't like fireworks?

It looks like a fair turnout already to me. I wasn't even aware there were this many.

Still... [ Marita manages a very slight smile, although it doesn't really look like much. ] It's a good way to introduce the New Feathers to what they can do with their stay in Luceti. I'm sure it makes the environment feel less hostile, as well.

Me neither...! I didn't think there would be even this many...

[Pilouette smiles a little in return. If nothing else, Marita is making her feel a bit pleased with herself.]

Yeah! Who doesn't feel welcome when people are like, inviting them to do stuff, right? I wonder if it would be okay to have a party next cycle, too. After all, they used to have them all the time...!

Considering the amount of confusion on the journals once everyone arrives, it would probably be a good idea. People enjoy feeling welcomed, despite our... captivity, knowing there is some sense of normalcy and calm to help understand our actual situation better.

[ This is, of course, her diplomatic ways speaking, despite being removed from them quite some time ago. ]

Yeah. If it wasn't for people welcoming me when I first got here I don't know what I would have done. ...But, well, we didn't have a party for a long time, and I wonder if it makes all that much difference.

I mean, everyone is nice enough to welcome people, even without a party.

I would think that it does, despite the welcoming New Feathers usually get. These seem to cover a more specific range... [ She gestures to her info booth and the clubs both already set up and being set up. ] ...rather than a broad one or trying to explain it all at once.

It's a lot to take in, but this way they have the ability to choose exactly what they would like to know more about with all the information on-hand.

Yeah, you're right. Just ending up here is a lot to take in by itseld. ...Maybe I'll ask people to set up table or hand out fliers or whatever next time, too. Oh, but...I should make sure someone else doesn't want to head things up first, huh?

And the next party should probably be a little different than this one. If they're all the same, then it's not as fun...!

Creating a Welcoming Committee could serve some purpose... that way it doesn't have to be run by one person and is open to more ideas or discussions about what sort of things to include to keep it interesting. It would be able to stay on track if there are more people backing it.

A Welcoming Committee...Yeah, that's totally a great idea! I'll have to ask about that over the journals sometime. Oh, or maybe I should ask the people working at the Welcome Center, too. I mean, they probably have tons of experience...well, welcoming people!

If we do end up forming a Welcoming Committee...would you consider being a part of it? Like, y-you don't have to answer now if you don't want to! But you seem to like, really have a handle on this kinda stuff!

[ Marita takes a few moments to process her question; since the black oil, she's rarely had a chance to do anything relating to her usual diplomatic expertise, especially after being gone so long but... ]

I wouldn't mind. It could be helpful, especially for those who have no idea where to start.

Considering that we have some time before the next arrivals... it should give us enough time to at least have an outline that will gradually become the actual committee.
