He was always a rock when I needed one (closed)

Who: Bulla and Vegeta (open to Bulma as well)
What: A special Father's Day celebration, Saiyan (and half-Saiyan) style
When: June 16th all day
Where: Brief household, Battle Dome and then back home again
Summary: Bulla trained diligently for over a month in order to surprise her dad. This is the result.
Rating: PG for sparring violence

Bulla was up uncharacteristically early, but she wanted to wake up before her father. She prepared a generous breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon, bagels with cream cheese and orange juice. Her outfit had been carefully selected. Fashionable, and yet, something she could train in without minding if it got sweaty. She'd been planning this for over a month, and as far as she knew, her father had no idea how much time she'd been spending training. She'd pretended to do very little other than exercise - she claimed she'd been going running, or just exercising with friends to stay fit to explain the times she came in sweaty and wearing athletic (though still ver colour coordinated) clothing.

It wasn't a lie - she had been getting plenty of exercise with friends. She just downplayed the extent of it by a lot, and didn't mention training at all. There was no reason for him to think that she'd changed her routine by much. The lack of a shopping mall necessitated finding other hobbies, but she'd kept herself busy with Fashion Club with Quinn and that wasn't a secret at all.

"Good morning, Dad!" she greeted cheerfully when her father finally emerged. "Happy Father's Day."

He takes the card, looking down at it with curiosity. So what else to do but open it, pulling out the card and taking time to at least read it. He takes the voucher and his face is nothing but bewilderment. He doesn't really know what to say at first, because he's incredibly shocked. The one thing he could never get her to do, that he just didn't have the heart to make her do past the basics he'd taught her so she could at least defend herself properly from any idiot Earth males. He never had the heart to make her train like a Saiyan warrior, after he'd accepted his life on Earth and knowing that he no longer resided in a society of warriors but living with a race of relatively peaceful beings. He didn't want that for her, or else he would have forced her just like he did with Trunks when he was small. But Trunks wanted to, he idolized Vegeta so it wasn't exactly forced.

And here she was, taking the time to spend with him to do what he loved most despite that she had always tried to avoid and get out of training as much as she could. He lowers the voucher to approach her, giving her a nice hug, because that was incredibly thoughtful of her and he most certainly loves his gift. It means a lot to him. He doesn't say thank you but the look on his face certainly displays it.

"So do I get to redeem this now or are you going to make me wait? And just because you're my daughter doesn't mean I'm going to go easy on you!"
misterbrief: (sure i guess)

"I didn't see the point. I was going to see it anyway, so I figured I'd cut down on any time wasted. But go. I'm definitely going to be cashing this in as soon as you get back. I've got a lot of ideas and I don't think you're going to like any of them." Ha, he can't wait to get started. This was going to be absolutely fun for him, and even though he might not be bouncing up and down about it, inside he's pretty excited. Eight hours is a long time and you can get a lot done in that time.

So he'll actually wait, because he's not following her into the women's bathroom. That would be weird.

"Well then. Shall we?" He's unmistakably happy about getting to train with her as he leads her to one of the chambers.

((OoC: To the next part!))

He'll lead her inside, closing the door behind them and looking at the panel. Does he just turn the gravity on now or later? He decides to turn it on anyway, it'll be good for her, and it's only ten times normal gravity, it's not like he's making her train in one-hundred and fifty like what he used to do with his son when he was small.

"Think you can handle a warm-up with the gravity on?" He's throwing a few punches and kicks in the air for himself, stretching just a little to get those muscles ready.
misterbrief: (That's not possible...?)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-06-24 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"You've been practicing? Really?" Color him surprised, he wasn't expecting that answer at all. "Yes, I spend most of the day here so I can imagine trying to sneak inside to use one of the chambers for yourself would give you some difficulties. But I never saw you once so I'd say you did a pretty good job with getting away with it. I might have to watch you a little closer now that I know that though." Sneaky, he ponders if she's snuck anywhere that she didn't want him to know about that didn't pertain to this. Eh, he's got eyes all around Luceti- he'd find out if she had.

He continues to warm up, and will let her do so too, before the real training begins; and he's definitely going to start out with sparring, since that's his favorite thing to do and he hasn't fought anyone around here with the durability equal to everyone from their world. It'll be a nice change, even if he thinks he has to go easy on her.
misterbrief: (heh. this isn't the end now is it)

He finishes up, walking over and rotating his arms a little to loosen them up. He might go easy on her for his standards but he still doesn't have a problem hitting her. She signed up for this and he's willing to let her have it, at least as much as he thinks she can handle.

"We've wasted enough time. Let's get started." He'll be nice though, and not surprise her by throwing a kick right at her head. Instead he sets himself in a fighting stance. "Ready when you are."

"Well alright then." The tone of his voice drops, and puts on a smile he usually reserves for combat. And without another word he moves in, not near as fast as he might of had he been fighting Trunks or even Kakarot, but it's still quick as he goes to try to land a punch right in his daughter's face.
misterbrief: (dude srs)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-07-01 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The punch doesn't connect as she side steps him, grabbing a hold of his arm and he instantly concludes that he's about to get thrown. Not bad, he thinks to himself, that certainly wasn't something he's gone through with when teaching her some basic self defense when she was younger.

As she goes to follow through what he thinks will be a throw, he'll be raising his hand up- and will fire a ki blast right at her.
misterbrief: (This guy is really annoying)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-07-02 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Her foot connects with his wrist and the blast goes off, flying at the ceiling and exploding harmlessly far above their heads. He'll have to take this opportunity to try to bring a turn kick into her side while simultaneously trying to remove his arm from her grip.
misterbrief: (heh. this isn't the end now is it)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-07-05 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
"I know you're faster than that!" He can't deny it, that was pretty good of her to take care of his attacks like that. She certainly had been working on her skills and that little combo had shown it. So he'll give her a little more to deal with, his hands glowing with energy as he begun to throw smaller and lower powered ki blasts right at her.
misterbrief: (A crying child?)

[personal profile] misterbrief 2013-07-09 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
He can't help but be really proud of her while she manages to dodge all of his blasts, grinning widely at her moves as she approached him. He sees her feign, but doesn't think she'd be skilled enough to try to fake him out; so his arm goes up to block what he thinks is going to be a kick right to his side. His face opens into an expression of shock when her leg slams into his and knocks him clear off his feet.

He twists, hands going out to catch himself on the ground, trying to use the opportunity and momentum to swing his own legs at her to try to land a hit.

Part of her feels useless, because it has been a long time since she could really follow anyone's training sessions without having the impression that they just vanished in thin air due how fast they were. And so she's left to spend her time watching them pop in and out of her sight as they train. She's slightly disappointed, she had expected that with Bulla not being used to train she wouldn't be this fast, but obviously she was wrong. Or Bulma was way too slow, which could be possible and wasn't a shame seeing as she was comparing herself to two aliens. Or an alien and a half-alien.

Another part of her is just beyond ectasis. There she is, watching her daughter and her husband train. And she just knows that even if she was back home with many things to do, she would still love to take a bit of time to watch this. Specially seeing as it's a very special event. She still can't help to feel awe at her family, even if she has come to accept it as a reality and her future, sometimes she just fears it's all one of those crazy dreams that would haunt her and give her weird ideas about Vegeta back home. Of course, now they aren't so weird, but for the Bulma she is back there, who doesn't know about her future, they are.

All in all, she's proud of them and very happy and she understands fully how special this day must be for Vegeta, to be able to do with his daughter what he surely has been wanting to do but somehow never did -maybe because of how he had come to adjust to a peaceful life?-. After all, he was a warrior, he came from a species that did nothing but fight. Even if at times it gets on her nerves and bothers her, Bulma knows it well and she supposes that it must have been hard for him to adapt to a peaceful life. To understand that there's no need for him to fight every hour of the day, that he's not in constant danger or anything. And that his children don't have to learn to fight, that they may not even want to.

Still, no matter what, Bulma is Bulma, and training non-stop is no good for anyone. Specially not for a girl who doesn't do it on a daily basis. So she waits for them with refreshing drinks ready once she deems they have been going at it for long enough. She gives them the benefit of doubt and waits for them to stop on their own, but if they don't do so in ten minutes she'll hijack the system to force them to take a break if she has to.

Bulma -> Vegeta -> Bulla? or whoever is boomeranging at the time lol? I AM BAD AT THIS.

He skids to a halt, being beaten back a ways by Bulla, ducking, blocking and dodging her assault fist for fist and blow by blow, when for a second his eye catches a particular blue-haired woman standing outside the glass of their chamber. He lets that glance rest a moment too long before Bulla's foot connects solidly with the side of his face, causing him to flip before catching himself with a hand, pushing himself off the ground and flipping back up onto his feet.

He wipes the blood from his mouth, keeping his gaze locked now on his daughter but bothers to speak up.

"Your mother is here. And I think she wants to see us."

Hands up, he lets her catch herself and get up after his kick lands. No whining though, on her end. Good. He'd hit her pretty hard, maybe even a little harder than he intended but that's what happens when you spar sometimes. So he doesn't feel bad, because he could have hit her a lot harder. She's a Saiyan. She can take it.

He's really starting to realize that she wasn't kidding when she said she'd really worked for this day. Dodging all those blasts, it seemed like it wasn't something she hadn't encountered before- and not because he'd trained her to deal with it. Someone else did. He's a little sore that she'd faked him out successfully, but at the same time he figures she'd played on him underestimating her. Smart. That'll teach him to underestimate her, just as he hates it when his enemies do the same to him.

That display though, he's more than certain that if Bulla wanted she could easily be a skilled Saiyan warrior, pulling off those moves in a month's time like that? He shouldn't be surprised, she did have Saiyan blood in her veins and she was the daughter of the Prince of Saiyans. The instinct for battle resided in her, too. But how to bring it out?

"Think you can pull that off again? His hand comes up, fingers moving backward toward him in a taunt. Come, show him what you've got.
