Having a lot of respect for the man, it's strange for Firo to hear Maiza admit not having the power to change a situation. There's Gretto's death and, to an extent, some of Szilard's rampage, but for most of the time Firo's known the man he's seemed well in control. He nods along, but doesn't say anything to that part. His friend's a strong guy; Firo thinks he doesn't need assurance that things are different now.

Firo realizes in the back of his mind that he should be quiet and let Maiza tell his story, but his curiosity gets the better of him. "You left it?" Or maybe it was wiped out. He doesn't want to state that possibility out loud; Maiza's lost enough friends already.
