For a statement that, for all intents and purposes could have been reassuring, it certainly seemed to carry the hint of a threat. As for his comment on how she was pleasant company, she decided he was probably referring to the previous evening, considering he hadn't even known her name. It would be better to ignore him.
And so that was what she set out to do. Fortunately, there was at least a little bit of work left to do.
