The first step is the one you believe in

Who: Pepper Potts, Tony Stark, and everyone who has gathered there today.
What: A wedding and reception
When: Sept 14, All Day
Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married ~~finally~~ ~~officially~~ finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

Vastra blinks and turns around with the plate still in hand, eyes wide.

"Ah, apologies... Reverend...?" Such a fuss for five grapes but, well, the man did marry Tony and Pepper. Vastra extends the plate back to him.

"Captain Reverend, darling. 'Salright. I won't sign you over to damnation for it." He accepts the plate. "Has anyone ever told you that you have a shockingly fine figure, miss...?"

'Captain Reverend', that's a new one on her. She tries to stifle a smile. "Well I appreciate that, I'd rather not be damned over a few grapes, if it's all the same to you."

Vastra's smile turns a little inquisitive and confused by the comment on her figure. "Madame Vastra. And I can't say I've had a Captain Reverend comment on my figure before."

"Captain Reverend Jack Sparrow, if you please. Or just Jack. A pleasure, Madame Vastra.

You're not from around parts that are known to me, are you."

Another Jack, apparently. Vastra is just collecting them now, isn't she?

"The pleasure is mine, Jack." She'd extend a hand, but he's got a plate going there. "I... wouldn't say so, no. I attributed the lack of staring at me to whatever time you have spent in Luceti, though I would be surprised if you were from 'parts' where my kind exist."

"I can stare if you like."

And he did.

Vastra fixes him with an extremely unsure and uncomfortable look.

The kind you give a dotty old man who says he's flying to the moon in a rubbish bin as soon as his toast is done.

Jack's rubbish bin would be painted all sparkly-orange.

"You'll do, darling. Now tell me: do they dance in the parts where you're from?"

"I'll do?" Vastra isn't sure if she should be offended yet. "Yes, we do. But it depends on the sort of dancing you have in mind, I can't do anything to that repetitive beating." Sorry, Jack (Holden...).

She should've been offended about ten minutes ago. He's clearly having an off night.

"There's repetitive beatings here tonight?" Yeesh, that was alarming. Jack looked about just to make sure no one was targeting him for one of those.

"Well Jack is in charge of the music, and he did throw that... 'rave' for Eugene's birthday. I imagine we're in for some of it eventually," she gives Jack a helpless sort of smile. "We'd best get to it before everyone starts leaping about and flailing."

"Oh, I went to the rave!" He offers her an arm. "I swirled my glowing sticks about!"

"Ah, well then, perhaps I saw you," she takes his arm. "After all, only about eighty percent of those at the rave were whirling those glowing sticks about."

"Then you'll certainly remember how to dance! Even to beatings." There was one clear space on the dance floor at least; Jack headed for it and then positioned his hands as though he were going to pull her into a tango.

"I never got the hang of dancing to beatings," Vastra admitted, following him to the floor. The stance seemed a little close, but Vastra gracefully accepted the proximity and rested one hand on Jack's shoulder and took his hand.

"Tell me this, my leggy green beauty: have you ever tangoed with the second most notorious pirate of the Spanish main?" There. That was a smooth line -- almost as smooth as the shift of his hand to her hip.

Leggy...? What was that supposed to mean? Something that no doubt added to 'green beauty', and Vastra is instantly amused. Well, this is quite different from what happened with the last Jack she tangled with. She smiles, intrigued, because there's too much padding down there for her to demand to know just where is Jack groping and considers the question.

"I'm presuming that the second most notorious pirate of the Spanish main would in fact be you. Is this a subtle way of asking whether or not we have met before? Or are you stalling while trying to find my waist?"

"I've never met one so bejewledly green," he purred in return. Wow, this dress was padded. But he'd never actually try anything too naughty; not with Buffy as his best lady.

"And your waist is just here, above your hips."

“Good, then we are in agreement. Let's not contest where it is, then, and you may put your hand just there.” Polite enough warning--Vastra was a married woman, after all. And the flattery was absolutely rolling off of Jack, it wasn't hard to figure what sort of man he was. What his intentions were, Vastra had no idea, and that was certainly interesting.

“Do not take offense though, Captain Reverend. I have not been on the receiving end of such a compliment in a long, long time.”

"Whyevernot?!" he demanded as he swept her into the motions of a drunken tango. "What's wrong with fellows these days? They can't seem to put their tongues to good service for a lady!"

Vastra's eyes widened as Jack pulled her into a dance she certainly was not familiar with. It was quite close first of all, and a little jerky. But after a few moments she figured it out and followed Jack easily.

"Perhaps because I am a lizard woman, sir. And married to my parlor maid." She smirked and raised an eyebrow at him. "Those things tend to put a damper on things most fellows might say."

"Scandalous." He tried to twirl her. It wasn't really part of the dance but it seemed like the right thing to do. "Took advantage of the help, did you."

Vastra followed the intent with practiced ease--though perhaps it was executed less as a dance step and more as a practical movement. A quick turn executed twice, maybe.

"I resent that implication of impropriety--" And Vastra did try to keep her voice light, despite the circumstances under which she and Jenny first met. Jack couldn't have known, after all. "--she is more than capable of discouraging unwanted attention."

"She kicked you in the tail, did she? Had to keep wooing her, did you?" Jack could sympathize as he continued to dance with her, his own style far more flowing and primal. "I know the feeling."

"Oh do you, now?" This is probably more amusing than it should be, no doubt. Jenny had, of course, never rebuffed Vastra's advances (such as they were) because she had always been perfectly polite and quiet about it. None of this 'most beauteous green thing' nonsense.

"So what lady are you unable to leave alone?"
