What: A wedding and reception
When: Sept 14, All Day
Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married finally officially finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

"I leave you alone for one -- one -- morning so I can make sure some other guy gets dressed," she waved a hand in the happy groom's general direction, "and you forget the fundamentals of fashion. Namely, to have some. Any some will do. Preferably the bottom somes."

But she didn't seem too second-hand humiliated by the whole ordeal. "The service was, uhm...certainly serviceable." Buffy tipped her glass towards the pirate in a more wordless show of appreciation.

He knew she'd like it, even though he'd grown to assume that Buffy simply didn't like any weddings at all. He'd tried to make it as honest as a dishonest man could.

"Thanks, love. Got them knotted at least -- now what they do with that's up to them, isn't it."

He drained the bottle of rum he'd been enjoying.

"If fate-or-whatever-the-hell chooses to be kind? They'll both go home and do it all over again..."

Because such a fact made it much much easier to celebrate their wedding. Knowing Pepper and Tony weren't just in it for the Luceti haul, but for a hopeful ever after. Provided the Extremis scenario wasn't the be all and end all of Pepper's life; the Slayer's mouth bowed into a frown at the thought, and so she tried to shake it away. Banished it. And took the tablecloth'd pirate by his arm -- but not after deftly relieving him of his emptied bottle.

"It's only my third," he informed her. God, Buffy was gorgeous. Gorgeous gorgeous golden and gorgeous. "Are you kidnapping me into a dance?"

[herotypical]

"Might be. Depends -- do my pants and your...skirt thing mean that I get to lead. Fair and square?"

The question was mostly a formality; she would have tried to lead the dance all the same.

"You're Buffy Summers, Vampire Slayer. You lead a Scottish castle. I think it's very well possible."

[herotypical]

She dropped her drink off on an empty table. It was still half-full, a light lipstick print on its rim. A weak cocktail, barely a drink at all. And she hardly needed it in her hand when she now had his fingers to occupy her fingers. Tight-laced and tangled. Tangled. Oh, she had liked that part of the ceremony, morbid though it had been. There was something everlasting about the bones the soil: a kind of forever she could never have, she knew, so long as she chose a lover from Luceti rather than from home.

Somehow, it took the morbidity out and made the end rather enviable. Buffy smiled through the pang and slid into step in front of Jack. "Led. Led a Scottish castle. I think it's been long enough, now, to start using the past tense?"

He could probably never expect such a peaceful resting place for his own bones. At best, they'd settle to the bottom of the sea after a long and exciting life. At worst, they'd be cast into an executioner's grave after being gnawed by dogs. There was very little likelihood they'd ever lie beside those of a lover.

"You talk about it how you like, love. If I were you, I'd say captained. Sounds more better."

He was trying to be very good and not pickpocket the crowd with his free hand as they made their way to the dance floor.

"I have an army, not a crew. And Captain Buffy sounds like a cheerleader on a power-trip."

Never mind that -- on a good day -- Buffy was a cheerleader on a power-trip. Or, at the very least, she behaved like one. Desperately wanted the rest of the world to see her that way, for her own safety and the safety of others. Or that was how it had been, once. And now...?

Well, now she focused on leading her Captain to a quieter corner of the open floor. "Bully for you, by the way. Getting a dance with the Best Man at the wedding."

"Glad she wasn't busy tending to Stark all night. Besides -- he's quite taken with Pepper at the moment. Never quite imagined her in a white wedding gown before."

Pepper was almost practical enough to defy Jack's imaginative powers.

"But bugger. She's gorgeous in it." He settled his hands at Buffy's waist.

"She glows."

Her fingertips touched lightly together on the far side of Jack's neck -- just about barely anchoring her to him. And she settled against his body, dropping her chin for just a moment. Bumping her forehead against his chest. "They both do. Tony, of course, rather literally..."

Buffy turned her head and let her cheek lean against the pirate instead. "But 'fess up, you so totally have a thing for redheads."

"Mmhmm." Sometimes it was difficult to muster up more than little sounds of assent for Buffy. "They're lovely."

[herotypical]

These heels gave her such height. When her head did lift, she may not have made it to eye-level with Jack, but it was certainly nearer to eye-level than she'd been in a long while.

"They are," her subject drifted back to the couple in question. Jack had long ago noted her distaste for weddings -- but she found other people's weddings just fine. In fact, she might have seemed a little too childishly delighted with what the charisma of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts combined managed to pull together, here, in such a short time.

"It's a lot of turquoise on such short notice."

"Bugger, I know. Feel like I'm swimming through Princess Marina's courtyard, here."

It was rather an eyeful of turquoise, but Jack liked it. It felt underwatery and Caribbean-y.

"That suit suits you, you know."

What a pair they were -- matching even when they were out of place. She in the suit and he in the...skirt...thing. Buffy play-waltzed him 'round another happy couple and smiled.

"I wasn't sure you'd dig it." Really, she should have known better. He'd compliment anything she dared to wear out the front door and a number of things that would never see the light of day again. "But by now, you've probably had enough rum to dig just about anything. Are you sure you don't wanna run home and pick up some real clothes?"

"My buttocks aren't showing, are they?"

[herotypical]

"I didn't check. Should I check? Is that a thing you want me to be doing right now?"

[all7seas]

Cheek checking might be necessary. "This is the most bestest tablecloth I've ever worn, you know. Potts-Stark enjoys quality."

[herotypical]

Perhaps she was just buzzed enough to allow for a certain kind of undignified move: hauling him closer and peering 'round to all-too-brazenly give him a glance.

"They're billionaires. Now. Together. I suppose. Of course everything would be quality. Spiffier than a silver spoon."

"We're impoverished ne'er-do-wells. Our spoons bend with very little pressure."

Jack pressed a kiss to the top of her head. She'd been drinking.

[herotypical]

"We? We? Speak for yourself, Captain. I happen to very often and very enthusiastically do well. Sometimes I even do great. And on occasion? Impossible."

[all7seas]

"I was talking about us, sweetheart." But he grinned at her. "And you always do great."

[herotypical]

She smiled -- dropping her nose down to his shoulder. Taking a moment. Living in it. Enjoying it. Well, right up until the point when she saw someone in the distance. Across the room. Hmm.

"It's time for me to do some more greatness. One dance, hun, and then I'm gonna go get you some pants."

"Right. One dance." He didn't seem as interested in dancing properly as he did in just holding her in a vague sway. That alone was quite enjoyable -- would have been even more so without all these other people about.

"But you really don't have to leave the party on my account."

"...I think it might actually be my job to make sure everyone's fully dressed. At least until last call."
