What: A wedding and reception

Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married finally officially finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

"Mmm. Tell me about it. I too spring from the dubious cracks of a broken family," she tapped his chest lightly when the tie was finished. "Doesn't mean we don't dream of doing it better."

"You wouldn't be tying my tie right now if I didn't," he admitted. "I have always tried to outclass my dad, anyway."

You and me both. Buffy stepped back, smiling smally, and thinking to herself that she and Tony Stark were too old to be chasing after their papa's coat-tails. But the sins of the father were hard to forget, and Buffy still pinned much of her own romantic hesitation on her father's failures. A bonafide psychologist-vampire had told her so, once. She hadn't thought to question him.

"Forget about him. Y'know -- for the day. It's about new beginnings, not old ones."

New beginnings. He liked that. He'd lived more than a decade with Pepper as a significant part of his life, but he could still feel the start of something new in his fingertips when he thought about what this union would bring to their lives. Maybe it was sentimental and nostalgic to think of it as two lives becoming one, because hadn't they had that for awhile? But he even allowed himself romanticism occasionally, and his wedding day was as good of an excuse as any to employ it.

"Or maybe the end of old beginnings." He paused, thoughtful. "That sounded better in my head."

"...It sounded just great out loud, too. I'd even say it was vow-worthy."

[alloys]

"Oh, good. I was wondering where I would start with those."

[herotypical]

"...Please tell me you're pulling my leg."

Was he?

"...You don't have anything written?! Still?"

[alloys]

"Written? Please, Buffy. I'm a speechmaking man. I have it under control."

"Prove it."

[alloys]

"And ruin the surprise?"

[herotypical]

She waggled her empty hand at him.

"No specifics, then. But try an outline. Hit on your talking points. Rehearsal's not a bad thing, you know."

"Right. Well, I should probably hit on the big points - you know, why I love her, sickness and health, all the grief I'm going to give her when we're married - that sort of stuff. There, outlined."

[herotypical]

"What -- not prepared to take any grief in return?"

[alloys]

"I don't think Pepper is capable of giving me grief, actually."

[herotypical]

"Everyone's capable of giving everyone else grief, Tony. I think realizing that is the actual real key to monogamy."
