House of M - The Beginning

Who: Billy Kaplan + Anyone who wants to be involved in the House of M Plot + Related CR + Anyone Really
What: Um. The House of M Plot.
When: October 1st-7th
Where: Literally anywhere in Luceti, yo
Summary: Billy returns from a kidnapping feeling a bit, er, different. A white light envelops the village for just a moment, and when it fades... well. All kinds of things are different, actually.
Rating: Varies, anything above R take it elsewhere!

Still accepting last minute sign-ups, if anyone is interested.

It starts off so innocently, early on the morning of October 1st. A burst of light, a warm rush of energy that consumes everything it touches, and it's gentle enough to feel like stepping out into sunlight from the shade. It's so brief that some people might not even notice it happened. But there are certainly... differences. Some subtle, some not. And those changed won't even understand the problem.

After all, why would perfection be a problem?

The truth is, there are no problems. There can't be. It's perfect, Billy thinks. Believes it. His belief is his reality, and now, it's their reality. It all has to be perfect; they deserve it, all of them, for one reason or another. And he'll do whatever he has to protect that perfection from being tainted, ruined, taken away from them.

Teddy died so this could happen, after all.

So what is your new reality?

[Natasha isn't surprised to see Kate in her usual booth as she slips into the coffee shop and the sight has her smiling as she saunters over towards her and slides in across the table.]

Hard at work, I see. How's it coming?

I could say the same about you. [Kate definitely admires the amount of dedication Natasha puts into running the coffee shop. Everything always seems in ship-shape. They're never out of stock of her favorite drink and the coffee's always at that just right temperature. It's perfect.

It definitely beats any Starbucks back home. Grinning,]
I should be done with the initial draft of the place by Sunday. Gotta love the lack of any sort of official government here. I can skip straight to building without filing any permits.

This isn't all that hard, now that we've got all the kinks worked out. [Natasha chuckles as she props her chin in her hand and casually peruses some of Kate's notes upside down.] The hardest part is getting things started and rolling. Once it gains momentum, you just hang on for the ride. Although having to build the building from scratch is a hurdle I thankfully didn't have to leap.

[She pushes them forward. There's no competition here or reason to keep them a secret. Who knows? Natasha might be able to provide some sort of feedback on something Kate otherwise missed.]

I have plenty of practice hanging on for the ride. Comes with the territory of working for Clint. [She chortles, amused, before growing briefly more serious.] As for buildings? My dad manages to get them done all the time in a place where there are a lot more hurdles to jump. It can't be that hard.

[Natasha snickers at that, her lips quirking fondly at the mention of her partner.] Life with Clint is always an adventure. And rarely boring. And the hurdles that pop up are usually the ones that you least expect. But it's not like you don't have a good number of people here you can go to for help if a problem crops up. There are people here that have experience at it, too.

There are benefits to dating a speedster.

[Benefits she plans to put to full use once construction is done. Because she is so not painting all those walls herself.]

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-10-03 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Natasha blinks for a moment, contemplating the logistics for that. And then purposefully not stating the first inappropriate comment that comes to mind.]

I'll take your word for it. There's also benefits to knowing a team with a super soldier and a creative genius and a god who wields a giant hammer.

[personal profile] tryit 2013-10-03 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh god. Oh, god please no potentially mortifying talks on things they haven't even done yet. Please, please, please, Natasha.]

Let's see... Add to the super soldier one reality-warper, one shape-changing Skrull-Kree hybrid, a girl that can change her size, my speedster, a genius from the 30th century, and an android? I think we've got you beat.

...even if they're not all here.

[You're safe, Kate. At least this time.]

Yes, well, at the moment, the only ones I can add to the list of 'not here' is a "giant green rage monster" as Tony so affectionately put it. And while strong, I somehow don't think he'd be all that useful in building your club. [Natasha drawled with a wry quirk of her lips.] Using it as a club, maybe.
tryit: ([happy] he's so faking it)

[personal profile] tryit 2013-10-05 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[She snickers.]

Give me Hulkling over the actual Hulk any day.

[At least she doesn't have to worry about her friend becoming a rampaging monster.]

[personal profile] widows_kiss 2013-10-08 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Teddy does seem much more reasonable a teammate, yes, although the Hulk certainly has his own set of benefits. [Natasha's lips quirk slightly as she inclines her head, her arms propped comfortably atop the table.] Not that there's much use for it these days, though. It's a relief to not have to worry about world ending catastrophes as often. I thought it would be more boring, living a 'normal' life.

They keep us busy enough here.

[All those missions, the random drafts here and there. It's not ideal, not nearly as cool as saving Earth again and again. But it's definitely fun. And a good reason to keep her team training while they're here.]

It might not be world ending, but it's good to be able to kick some ass sometime.
