House of M - The Beginning

Summary: Billy returns from a kidnapping feeling a bit, er, different. A white light envelops the village for just a moment, and when it fades... well. All kinds of things are different, actually.
Rating: Varies, anything above R take it elsewhere!

It starts off so innocently, early on the morning of October 1st. A burst of light, a warm rush of energy that consumes everything it touches, and it's gentle enough to feel like stepping out into sunlight from the shade. It's so brief that some people might not even notice it happened. But there are certainly... differences. Some subtle, some not. And those changed won't even understand the problem.

After all, why would perfection be a problem?

The truth is, there are no problems. There can't be. It's perfect, Billy thinks. Believes it. His belief is his reality, and now, it's their reality. It all has to be perfect; they deserve it, all of them, for one reason or another. And he'll do whatever he has to protect that perfection from being tainted, ruined, taken away from them.

Teddy died so this could happen, after all.

"Maybe ya ought to give her a bone to chew on."

As always, Logan knew nothing about children. His closest thing to a daughter was Laura. He got to miss out on the crucial teething stage of her development. But if he had been there, he probably would have given her a bone. And it probably would've worked.

[touchofrogue]

"She'd choke on a bone," Rogue said, putting both hands above her head and stretching until she released a satisfied sigh. "What brings you out here?"

[snikting]

He shrugged. "Seemed as good as any place to spend a few days. Thought maybe something interesting might finally happen around here."

So far, Mayberry had been its same old self.

[touchofrogue]

Rogue gave him a quick grin. "Bored again?"

[snikting]

He sported a wicked grin.

"No. If I was bored, I'd already have a new scenario waitin' for you."

[touchofrogue]

Rogue groaned at the thought. "Tell you what," she said quickly, wanting to distract him. "I'll go hit the showers and while Loki's run off with Anja, we could play a game of pool."

[snikting]

Time had managed to somewhat dull Logan's disapproval of Loki. In this case, only because it meant he wouldn't have to pretend to actually like Rogue's baby or anybody's babies. He shrugged.

"If ya like. Maybe you'll even be good."

[touchofrogue]

"Please," Rogue said, smiling over her shoulder. "I'm always good."

And with that she disappeared into the mysterious and magical place otherwise known as the woman's locker room.

[snikting]

He took him outside the Dome to wait, occupying his time with a cigar. He always had a few extra handy when it came to matters that concerned women needing to change and taking their time about it.

[touchofrogue]

Yeah, yeah.

Although the truth was, Rogue did take her time about it. She didn't often have the time to take ther time anymore, and she might as well take advantage of it. Heading out, she frowned at her figure once before moving on out. As if her boobs needed to get bigger. Honestly, pregnancy was ridiculous.

"Ready to get your ass kicked?" Rogue said with a smile.

[snikting]

He twisted the cigar to the side of his mouth, giving him a chance to speak easier once she finally made her way out. He wasn't quite done yet, but hell, she'd taken long enough to make him not regret lighting it up.

"Don't get too cocky. You've been playing against the same backwater Mayberry folk for years. Me? I've been playing against folk in other enclosures. Ones where they actually put pool tables in the bar."

[touchofrogue]

"Oh, so they're nice an' distracted by booze?" Rogue flashed him a grin. "I'm shakin' in my boots."

[snikting]

"If I play good with booze in me, just think how good I'll be sober."

[touchofrogue]

Rogue shook her head, smiling, "I can't believe they'd even have enough booze in the other enclosures to get you tipsy."

[snikting]

"They've got some dedicated bartenders out there. Not like this rat hole."

[touchofrogue]

Rogue rolled her eyes, "Oh yes. Tell me how great all the other enclosures are."

[snikting]

"Some of em have roads. Real roads."

[touchofrogue]

"Doesn't make much different for those of us not lucky enough to have our bikes." Not that she's jealous. Of course not.

[snikting]

He snickered. "Yeah, but a bike ain't no place for somebody's mama."

[touchofrogue]

"Says you," she said. Although... he was probably right. Darnit.

[snikting]

"Says me," he repeated. At least they didn't have to walk far. The Rec Center was right around the corner from the Dome.

[touchofrogue]

Rogue rolled her eyes. "And probably Loki," she admitted reluctantly. "He doesn't really like motorcycles."

Or when she took 'unnecessary risks.'

[snikting]

"Always did figure him for bein' boring."
