What: A birthday party summons for Eugene and Max

Summary: After the events of the draft finally settling, it's time to get life back to normal.
Rating: PG-13 for drinking and swearing.




It was finally time to admit to himself that he was no longer in the club of twenty-somethings, which was a shame, really... but he wasn't going to lie to himself any longer. At least he wasn't alone, and Max could share in the not-quite-misery with him.

Something needed to unify people, something positive, and maybe this could help to begin settling nerves and getting life back to normal. So Eugene sends out a few invitations, even to the residents of his own home with a soft grin.

There were things that they could do to entertain themselves without much prep. Plenty of booze, board games, and even some baking that could be done. It didn't have to be something all-out as it was last year (no one could ever top a rave party for their birthday) but he wanted to party. So upon arrival, the smell of baking and cooking would be the first thing to greet them, before Eugene, of course.

[For such a drunken kiss, he had expected something much sloppier and instead got something much more than that. It was exciting, unfamiliar but not in a way considered unpleasant, and he answered in kind with his own-- stepping up to the plate and leaning into Loki while those fingers tangled in his hair. If anything, when he tried to break away mid-kiss, laugh muffled by lips chasing his, was when it got sloppy. But he'd nearly knocked over the mead Loki had given him, and that would be a downight tragedy in front of the man.]

Ah--mm-- wai--mmph.

[He righted the mead, purposefully set it firmly away before gripping Loki's hair to tug him away.]

Wait a minute this is exactly... not... [There was a reason why even if it was his birthday he shouldn't be having this.]

[Loki laughs breathlessly. Well, he has at least the presence of mind to not argue with Eugene, though he wants to. In for a penny--

He licks his lips, then smiles crookedly.]

Don't like your surprise gift?

[He laughs unsteadily, stroking his thumb through Eugene's hair. He wishes he could see, to know how the man was looking at him. Is this about to be horribly embarrassing?]

[There's a very frustrated, very elongated swear that escapes Eugene before he swallows down that unsteady laugh, wanting to mute it from the world-- kiss it and make it better? He snorted and it was inelegant, but it was real.

Still, the suspicion had snuck its way into his brain and while he didn't act upon it, it did sober him up a little. Marginally. He'd never pass a sobriety test, anyway. And he's surprised a little at how the kiss intensifies when he readjusts his grip on Loki's hair behind his ears.]

Don't be an idiot.

[He's smiling against Loki's lips, figuring that he had actually caught Loki good on that one]

Problem's liking it too muchIthinkokay?

[He doesn't know what to expect from that curse, either, but then he gets another kiss for his trouble and... oh. That's all right. Very all right. He combs his fingers through Eugene's hair and plies the man's mouth with his tongue.

Make it worth it, really.

After a moment needed for breath, he whispers against Eugene's lips:] I might like the way you grab my hair a bit too much.

Oh, what, like this?

[He made to demonstrate as he asked, a little dazed, but... satisfied with the way his lips felt. Tingly and well-worked, but now he was distracted with trying to distract Loki. It made sense in his head, and it was fun]

I mean, that is a personal problem. Sounds like.

Was it my turn?

[complicatedliar]

[And Loki is feeling very distracted, thank you. His hand tightens slightly on Eugene's arm, the other slipping down so he can play his fingers over the man's neck, curious what that might do.

He's feeling nicely hazy as he answers:] Yes, I do believe so.

[That touch prompted him to swallow, feeling Loki's hand against the bobbing of his adam's apple.]

Heh. Now I know how to win arguments with you~

[Voice sing-song, he did it again, deliberate and slow]

[He laughs.] Beast.

[Well yes, that is the best way to win any fight, verbal or otherwise: cheating.]

Not win. Temp--tempor--temporarily delay.

Nah, I think I'm actually winning for once. But okay, next... next uh, thing.

I've been in a fist-fight.

I was put on probation in my university for defacing public property with eggs.

[Whoops, maybe both of those were true? He was starting to lose track of what was real]

Well, I know the first must be true. [He slowly, meditatively strokes Eugene's arm with his thumb.] Then I suppose it would be the second, though I would believe that of you too, you wicked beast.

[A moment too late, Jack looks over at the two of them, and sees the tail end of what, goingby Eugene's expression, was a pretty amazing kiss.

Shit.

It takes him too long to stumble over, but he does, depositing himself in Eugene's lap with a lazy sprawl and ever-so-casually positioning a bony shoulder in the way of the two of them leaning in again.]

Now, this has gotta be one of those tricky ones, right? The one you'd think is definitely true actually isn't.

Awww, c'mon, I'm testing the limits of my-- oof

[Jack was an unexpected, but not unwelcome addition. He recognized those bony joints anywhere and was entirely too drunk and pleased to let a little elbowing get him in a bad mood. Still, he had to adjust so that he didn't faceplant in Jack's hair, struggling to sit up straighter]

Wha-- hey, Jack! Hey, pour me a shot because he guessed right. Damn, gotta work on my... heathen... er, hillbilly... er, wait. Hooligan? That's the one. My hooligan reputation.

[complicatedliar]

[Loki likes Jack. Loki doesn't mind him being there too, and is more than happy to lean on him in place of Eugene. Which means Jack then gets a nuzzle and a lazy kiss on his neck.]

Yes, pour him a shot. I'm rather better at this than him.

[He grins at Eugene.] How does one play this game as a threesome?

[...he didn't quite mean it like that, that's how drunk he is.]

Whoa, whoa, whoa, threesomes are a whole 'nother game entirely. And stuff...

[There was seriousness interjected into his tone, not knowing why, but it was... well, important. For some reason]

Oh, god you mean the game, right? Right, yes, the game is the more, the merrier. It'd just adding more interesting stories. Right, Jack?

[Even though he had an unfair advantage of knowing... a good deal of Jack's stories. He grinned and rested his chin on Jack's shoulder, comfortable with the company. ]

And shut up, I just-- I happen to be a shitty liar, alright? Some people see it as a virtue.
